Bill Gates: How a Geek Changed the World

The Money Programme’s Fiona Bruce gains exclusive access to Bill Gates as he prepares to step down from full-time involvement with Microsoft, the company he helped found.
Gates’s company has changed the world, but he’s a controversial figure, with his ruthless business leadership contributing to Microsoft being sued by the US government.
In a special one-hour edition of the Money Programme, Fiona Bruce presents the definitive profile of Bill Gates as he embarks on his latest challenge: giving away the billions he’s amassed.
She examines the fortunes of Microsoft as it faces up to competition from Internet-based companies, and the programme asks an array of well-known friends, colleagues and rivals what the future holds for the company in a post-Gates world.

  1. this could have been a fascinating subject if not for the stupid, inane, cliche’d and condescending way it was presented and the moron hosting.

  4. His funding only furthers politically correct, New World Order programs. He is a super predator, competitiveness is his obsession. An exceedingly greedy, elitist, schooled in his Freemason ethics. He was groomed by IBM as their chosen tool, and his ruthlessness was a perfect match for the power elite. Meanwhile, he soaked every dime he could out of a captive consumer while destroying anyone he could, who might offer a better price. He is a traditional robber baron. and no friend to humanity or civilization. I am employing a Judeo-Christian value system to discern the virtue of this man. Like everyone else he can’t make one hair on his head black or white.

  5. Bill gates you are an inspiration !!thanks for all your contributions to the world

  6. If you think you can be bought by Bill Gates, shut your mouth about the rest of the world. And you are journalist? Idiot!

  7. The guy’s mom is on the board at IBM.  She insists her son retains the rights to his little project.  Microsoft ends up dramatically increasing the price of the majority of computers sold in the past 25 years or so, costing the world economy easily far more than a trillion.  Now he’s so rich he’s giving it away.  I’d rather take a cheese grater to my finger nails than watch this film.

  8. Mr Gates is an example of how wealth can be used for good. Seems a bit unusual in this world.

  12. MS…. look at this company vs Google…

if you thank MS, you would make love to Google.

all ms have is a early hold. google will remove that in time along with other groups..

  13. Microsoft is rubbish .. the fact that people still pay for an OS when you can get a far better one for for free… well .. welcome to the twilight zone.

    • I partially agree. Linux tends to do most things better with the obvious exceptions like gaming and netflix. Windows is still relevant mainly due to the software that runs on it ie. Photoshop, Ableton, Reason etc. etc. Linux doesn’t really have very good alternatives to these programs (altough GIMP & Inkscape are pretty good). And a lot of businesses don’t quite trust Open Office/Libre Office as a replacement for MS Office, although I think they should… Granted none of this is the fault of Linux or it’s developers, but it is, sadly, a reality.

  14. Thanks Bill for your contributions to the world. You are an inspiration to those of us who can see that you gave.
