Cannabis: The Evil Weed

Cannabis is the world’s favourite drug, but also one of the least understood. Can cannabis cause schizophrenia? Is it addictive? Can it lead you on to harder drugs? Or is it simply a herb, an undervalued medicine?

Addiction specialist Dr John Marsden discovers that modern science is finally beginning to find answers to these questions. John traces the cannabis plants’ birthplace in Kazakhstan; finds the origins of our sensitivity to cannabis in the simple sea squirt; and finds out just what it does to our brains.

He meets people who have been changed by this drug in drastically different ways – from those whose lives have been shattered to those who lives have been revived.

  2. Pretty funny seeing all this scare shit now that we know its mostly harmless

  3. I read the comments before, ” IM AN ADDICT ;(” omg, i laughed so hard. This guy didn’t even give me a chance

  4. “PAUL”.. JUST NEEDS TO IGNORE THOSE VOICES LIKE THE REST OF US DO…
UNLESS OF COURSE, HE WISHES TO INDULGE AND JOIN IN THE CONVERSATION ; >)

  5. OUTTA CONTROL..?
EVERY ADULT THAT I KNOW IS JUST THE OPPOSITE.. THEY ARE FOCUSED, STUDIOUS IF YOU WILL, CREATIVE, ENGAGED- OKAY.. MAYBE NOT ENGAGED BUT CERTAINLY VERY MUCH I N CONTROL

  6. the only lie here is in this site’s introduction, that it “is the world’s favourite drug”.
    that title belongs to CAFFEINE..

  7. Just wanna point out what I think is a bit of a misconception put forth in this doc..
He said that the cannabis plant developed certain traits as a defense mechanism.
This is a statement I’ve heard many times in nature doc’s, about different organisms, and it always puzzled me in a way that I couldn’t quite put my finger on..
But now I’ve come to realize what I think is the correct way of looking at it:
The fact is, of course, that the plants (and other organisms) that are less desirable to eat for animals, and most resistant to other challenges in their environments, will be more likely to survive and get to pass on their genes.
And thus, they (or we) are still here! 🙂
    The end.

  8. Eye opening docu, but obviusly the worthless stoners and addicted losers turned-dealers will hate it.

  9. I’m sick of people (incl. the comments below) being all like yeah i smoke 40 cones for 40 years and i’m fine! Well yeah you may, that’s your OWN experience with it. But there are people that have suffered greatly from schizophrenia and depression brought on by excessive weed use and their lives have turned to shit, I’m not saying don’t smoke weed because I agree it is good in moderation but don’t blatantly deny and shit all over the fact that it has negative effects just because your life seems peachy.

    • Well yeah, but too much of anything will be bad for you. Plus, cannabis does not cause schizophrenia. It are people who are already prone to mental issues for whom an overuse of cannabis will act as a catalyst to these mental illnesses.
I am sure there are people who will have negative responses from aspirin, and consuming 10 of these pills will surely be the end of you, still they are the most available medicine found anywhere.
Furthermore, the whole ‘is cannabis safe’ discussion is nothing short of a joke. At the end of the day it all comes down to who will lose money over the legalization of cannabis.
I just saw a story about a car made by Ford(?), 35 years ago, which had a gas consumption of 1 (gallon) – 100 (miles). Yet still we drive cars with ridiculous 1 – 10 ratio’s. The lesson? What is good for you is not necessarily good for business.
      Same old story.

      • if u have really look at this documentary, u should know that the guy who got schizophrenia smoke skunk for 1 year before he got schuzophrenia , and skunk are mostly manmade with alot of unknown chemical. he didnt not get it from smoking kannabis.
that just show how good u are at listening

  10. that guy is a loser duetche even steve jobs smoked look at what he did you cant blame cannabis for sitting around and smoking.i run a multi dollar company in india and i smoke to that hasnt hampered my work

  13. thank god for drugs….

  14. if you want a real documentary about cannabis watch “The Union”

  15. this doc. is bullshit.

  16. I’ve been
smoking Pot daily for over 25yrs with friends and I have never met a single pot
smoking friend that got schizophrenia and some of these friends started very
young. It seems obvious to me that this poor young bloke was already susceptible
to schizophrenia and it had nothing at all to do with the pot. That seems
obvious to me considering I have never seen pot do this in 25yrs of heavy
use??? Actually, I have a good friend with schizophrenia caused by not
sleeping. Smoking pot helps him sleep and keeps the schizophrenia away. So, In
    that case, Pot helps schizophrenia.

  17. WHAT!!! Common dude seriously. I’ve been smoking cannabis since for over 12 years, almost every day. I drink very little and have never felt the need to try other drugs. I have no comment about John, but the NIH designed gateway drug experiments are a joke. Where is the positive control here? Like Bob said “give them a potato chip in another area and see what happens”.

  19. I personally think that this life is just a projection of energy that my consciousness interprets as life on Earth, and that I am here on Earth to experience as much as it has to offer. With the exception of things that are detrimental to my physical form, I think that drugs are just another category for me to experience, such as food, music, etc.

  22. It all boils down to money. If they made weed legal tomorrow you would put millions of people out of work. The judicial system would have much less to do. The law enforcement community would have much less to do.The prison systems would be under utilized, and there four people out of work.Glad sandwich bag would be just about out of business. Or maybe they would actually make money. But one thing is certain. Glad plastic bags are then norm for utilizing as a container for weed.If they’re were no weed tomorrow Glad would be out of business the next day. Then what would all these factory workers use to put they’re lunches in then. Oh, i forgot. We don’t have factories in America any more. Just joblessness.

  23. What a stupid bloody experiment to expose rats to THC and then see how many times they push the heroin button. If they were to put a potato chip button right beside the heroin button, I’ll bet they would have doubled their results. The rats aren’t pushing the button because they want heroin, they are pushing it because they are bored and hungry.

John is just a depressed idiot that can’t for the life of him make the association between his need to alter his mental state with his obsessive compulsion toward cannabis. Give John nutmeg and he’ll be complaining about his nutmeg addiction instead.

And I find it hard to watch a documentary that calls cannabis a gateway drug while completely ignoring the fact that 99.9% of cannabis users tried alcohol 1st and then tried pot. Where’s the documentary about alcohol being the primary gateway drug?

  24. What I gather from this video is the message that it’s damaging for kids under adulthood and a great tendency to continue with harder drugs.
within those limits, it is quite safe to take marihuana. So far I’ve been smoking it for 35 years, on and off, and suffered no damaging effects at all. On and off is to say  in the Netherlands, where I live most of the time and marihuana is not against the law, I smoke it daily, pure, about 4-5 joints. Some of the time I spend my time in a country where it’s strictly against the law. No problem for me to stop the habit immediately.
Ther’s no enjoyment to be got from smoking it being when haunted by a sense of paranoia ( the feeling that the law is at your doorstep ready to arrest) Conclusion is: No addiction whatsoever; a slight sense of paranoia, which in this case saves me from spending time in prison.
Use it wisely and get the most enjoyment out of it,

  25. John looks to me like a full blown depressive. He needs to get that treated, and then he may no longer feel the need to rely on cannabis.

  26. Why dont they test the animals with whole cannabis extracts instead of pure  THC ?

big great and small or any other living things that breathe through our
nostrils. maybe some people really don’t realize what they are doing
or should they do it!.( smoking pots) WHY?

  32. I don’t smoke pot, but I admit there are some benefits for some people. Probably the worst thing about smoking pot is that you are inhaling smoke into your lungs. That can’t be good for you.

  35. People are Apathetic because our current capitalist society is sucking the life out of us all. We know deep down it’s not right. We do not need to wake every day and work so we can buy shit.It all gets so boring. So lack of participation is a good thing in my eyes. “What measure of health is it to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society?”

  36. I belive that we all have choices and those choices lead to paths. I would really like to see people take some responsibility for their decisions! Over indulgence in any way, shap, or form is gonaa hurt you in one way or another. Start taking responsible for your choices instead of blaming it on the drugs! Get some will power for christ sake. Boo freakin hoo! Start bein productive for a change. Ever heard of moderation?????

  38. I think cannabis can have a negative effect on people who  have a mental disorder before hand..Normal rational people who smoke do not hear voices telling them to harm themselves. This is not the fault of the cannabis but their own state of mind.

  39. ugh that man is such a pussy, he’s not addicted to cannabis he’s using it as an excuse for his shit life, he could change if he wanted to.

  41. Enjoy responsibly.

  42. The blissful release is the curing power of the plant, but only if you eat the cannbinoid oils. Watch RUN FROM THE CURE. This  “Evil Weed” movie is propaganda. When people understand the truth, this becomes really silly. The cure for cancer IS cannabis.
