He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then president of the Theosophical Society. Dr Besant and others proclaimed that Krishnamurti was to be a world teacher whose coming the Theosophists had predicted. To prepare the world for this coming, a world-wide organization called the Order of the Star in the East was formed and the young Krishnamurti was made its head.In 1929, however, Krishnamurti renounced the role that he was expected to play, dissolved the Order with its huge following, and returned all the money and property that had been donated for this work. From then, for nearly sixty years until his death on 17 February 1986, he travelled throughout the world talking to large audiences and to individuals about the need for a radical change in mankind.Krishnamurti is regarded globally as one of the greate... Watch Now

Our Future in Space

Conference

Science

Space

This vigorous discussion on "Our Future In Space" featuring Phil Plait, Pamela Gay, Lawrence Krauss, Bill Nye, and Neil deGrasse Tyson was one of the most memorable moments at TAM 2011 Las Vegas. The devastation that occurred on that day lives in the heart of each American. The country, paralyzed with questions, tried to heal and rationalize the complexity of such an atrocity. One man followed his personal questioning and took actions that led him on a trip he will not soon forget.Journalist Lawrence Wright explored the moral dilemmas he experienced as he researched Al-Qaeda and the road that lead to the 9/11 tragedy. Lawrence Wright is the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist that followed his heart. His story was first staged in a one-man play, My Trip to Al-Qaeda, in 2006.Tuesday, September 7th 2010, HBO Documentary Films presented My Trip To Al-Qaeda, as the one-man play comes to the screen. Jessell, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, examines the neural circuits that control our movements. Neural circuits give us a glimpse of how brain wiring and circuit activity control specific behaviors, including the movement of our limbs. Consider baseball player Lou Gehrig's remarkable hand-eye coordination, or the purity of cellist Jacqueline du Pré's tone. Yet, both examples also remind us of the fragility of the motor system: Gehrig succumbed to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and du Pré to multiple sclerosis. Neural circuits, sensory feedback systems and signals from the brain permit us to change motor strategies to accommodate to an ever-changing world.... Watch Now
