Amazing ! Law of Nature Do every thing , So why need GOD ? Perhaps Nature is a GOD ? Intelligent enough to creat a enviroment for earth so we can exsist and proudly say there is no GOD there is no Creator !
What a Stupid arrogant human can be !
why these Laws of Nature come to exsist ?  is Nature is intellgent enough ? to creat earth for us ? or nature have no intellgent at all. Oh yeh  only stupid human have concious and intellgence.
Here is simply Logic and Reason  every thing in this universe is govern by some kind of Law, then it clearly points out there is a authority , with out authority there is no LAW . why people submit to law of country ?created by human authority! cause they want balance in society , just like universal natural LAW keeping thing balance ,these Laws of universe created by Allah , read Quran every thing in universe submit to law of Allah, thas why we call our self Muslim (one who submit to law of Allah)

IF any one disagree with my point of view , just do this experiment , disobey law of the country u live in , you will find out there is a authority who will come to enforce those law on you.
when find out there is Authority in your country , then Why dont you realize universal LAW have ONE authority  too , which is Allah ( one GOD ) enforce on every thing which is created by Allah.

How do you disobey a law of nature? How do you go against gravity and the like?

jumping off of a cliff is ignorantly _trying_ to break a fundamental “law” of nature. you will not succeed – you _can’t_ (unless you use science to generate the apporpriate technology).
Breaking the laws of Allah or Yahwey or Zeus is easy because they are man-made laws, just like the ones in our countries. There is no comparison between the laws of “gods” and the “laws” of nature (which are called laws because they are defined using terms generated in the human language, d’uh).
Stupid arrogance is supposing there is an all-powerful being that caused the universe into existance just so it could have a particular interest in you and what you think.

          • Azaad_alfaaz

what part you dont get it?  ok let me try giving you more example with logic and reason ,
Cell phone you have can it come to exsistance by itself? with all software and hardware, if your answer is “yes” then no point having logic and reason with you :) .
same with any Law either its nature Law or human Law , yes human law is change able , 2 diffrent law can not be compared .
what im trying indicate all of you which people like you either delibratley ignoring it or just for sake of argument ignoring the point im making which is ,
as you know Cell phone must have creator, so it is Law must have Authority , no mater what kind of Law it is either  man Law or Nature Law, To enforce those Laws in place either natural or human ,
human law enforce by human Authority ! and those Laws change all the Time cause human are not perfect , But Matter of FACT still Remains there is HUMAN AUTHORITY ! So Human Law come to exsist .
NAture LAW Must have Authority Too ! which we Call Allah (only to worship) who is Perfect and HIS Laws are Perfect too.
Give me one example human LAW exsist with out any Human Authority, im not in to changeable or not change Law.
i Hope u understand what my point view is .

why do you assume Nature would  created Earth for us?Are we not  all just part of the whole?
I am by no means a expert but it is arrogant to think anyone God or Nature created a Earth for the soul purpose for humans consumption, there are million things that strive from Earth!
As for your experiment, the laws my country  have where made by man, Just like the Koran  , Bible , any other text where written by man, came from man, not nature, not supernatural sky guy!
Laws of Allah? what is that? to kill an infidel ? where in nature does that law occur ? Your argument simply does not make any sense where This documentary does!

      • Azaad_alfaaz

:) my logic is simple if u can understand !   Law can only exsist  if there is a Authority, With out Authority there is no Law , Get it ? Ok here i make it more simple logic    IF      A=L  then  must L=A
IF      Authority = Law  then must  Law = Authority

“Here is simply Logic and Reason  every thing in this universe is govern by some kind of Law, then it clearly points out there is a authority , with out authority there is no LAW.”

Here’s your “simple logic and reason”, Azaad_alfaaz: You’re using the word “law” in the wrong way in your argument. You’re equating universal “law” with the kind of law that needs to be followed. This is called a fallacy of equivocation. A universal “law” is simply something that happens the same way all the time, without exception, such as Newton’s Laws of Motion. A universal “law” doesn’t need a law-giver because it isn’t the sort of law that law-givers give out.

“IF any one disagree with my point of view , just do this experiment , disobey law of the country u live in , you will find out there is a authority who will come to enforce those law on you. when find out there is Authority in your country , then Why dont you realize universal LAW have ONE authority  too”

Again, this is a fallacy of equivocation. Universal “law” DOES NOT MEAN authoritative law. Universal “law” isn’t something “given” by a “higher authority.”

maybe we just need to re-define what we consider God, we tend to anthropomorphize this creationary force when it should be left at that…God is the morphic resonance that binds all humanity, the Anima Mundi, and that Satan or the Devil represents our false ego trying to reveal the true self (God)

atheists ( in fact there is only antitheists, there is no true atheists ), regardless of their views and philosophies, they share 2 things, first “delusion of rationality” i.e. they think they are genuine truth seekers, open minded, follow logic and scientific facts, never believe in myths, and of course never believe in God or metaphysics in general, when in fact even the agnostic type of them, is anything but open minded, they are far from logic and ready to break all laws of logic if it does not serve their belief of no belief, they are true fundamentalist, believe in myths ( though they call these scientific hypotheses ) , have no true compassion to others, war criminals, and even those who think they do not need God to live an ethical and moral life, what Kant called the moral law inside him, that moral law we are born with is a divine law, not a human one, definitely all antitheists are subanimals , for animals have only instinct but no moral law, but those who have moral law and choose to ignore it and decide to live a materialistic and animalistic life are subanimals with or without their Phd, no antitheists ever came up with a single beneficial invention to humanity
second thing, all antitheists are God-haters, some are sexually abused by priests, others by parents, others are just pervs, some are crippled by diseases like Hawkings, some lost loved ones tragically, some have just survived natural disasters which killed millions of innocent children and women, so they ask: “why God?, why let me and millions suffer, to teach us a lesson or 2, why God would you let a child suffer from leukemia or get raped by a priest just to teach us a lesson or test us, can’t u just be merciful and just?” , well the problem of evil is always the final common pathway for antitheists, they just can’t get it, and u can’t blame them for being angry for that, but they also can’t blame God for that, yet they do, they do know that God does exist, they just hate Him so much, they want to hurt Him back, by making people atheists, but they forget that no one can be a true atheist ( someone who just do not believe in God or any thing else other than matter for that matter), u can only make other peoples antitheists like u( some one who believe in God, but pretend not to, just because he hates God), and that’s pretty much a stupid move, coz u can’t hurt God by hating Him or making others do, that’s why antitheists are pathetic, they are simply intellectual sadomasochists, u can’t but feel sorry for them, I do like Hawkings, he is a genius in physics, his explanation style  alone deserve nobel prize, but he is also a sick man, physically and mentally, for that tragedy I feel sorry for him, but he knows better, he knows that he is not an atheist, no one can be, he is just a pathetic antitheist.

I accidentally ‘liked’ your comment when trying to hit the “reply’ option. There is not a single piece of evidence for your complex god.

      • Anonymous

timwasinjapan, there is no single piece of evidence for your existence, but when it comes to Allah, there is evidence in every atom in this universe not only for his existence, but for his absolute unity, justice, mercy, love, omnipotence, omnipresence, everknowing self, you know that deep in your heart, you were born with it, you can't even actively forget it, all you can do , is pretend you forget it, all of you are pathological liars, to yourself to begin with, and you expect other people to be as sick and twisted as you, so you can't feel alone in your sickness, that's called the "whore complex", a whore knows that she is a piece of shit, yet to justify her actions, she states that all other women are whores, a more expensive but subtle whores, but that pathetic attempt, reflects only how sick a whore is, if you are a whore, believe me, we are no whores, so keep doing what whores do, but save us the "pseudoscientific justification", you God-haters

You’re nuts! Where is this evidence for your god that you claim? And I have a passport and a driver’s license and a birth certificate that say i do exist. I was raised and indoctrinated a catholic so why would i know in my heart that allah was god. Why can’t you understand that atheists don’t hate god, but instead don’t believe that theists haven’t demonstrated any reason to believe that there is one. Furthermore, all that talk about whores is just weird. See a doctor!

          • Anonymous

I am a doctor, a surgeon in fact, a  very good one, I graduated with a degree of honor and excellence, I also received many awards of distinction during my training as a surgeon, so I am certified to label you as a psychotic illiterate ignorant weirdo, in fact I would have ordered a hard restraint and lifelong incarceration to a mental health facility for you, as you represent immediate threat to yourself and to society. now you are like a kid who was born blind, he was raised by his mom, when he became an adolescent, he thought he figured it all, in fact, he started to claim he is not blind, and that his mother is a big liar, she claims to be able to see, when in fact, no one can, there is nothing such as light or darkness, or colors, or vision, or eyes for that matter, all these are nothing but a false doctrines his mom is trying to feed them to him, he knows better now,  you can't but feel sorry for him, after all he does not want to admit that he is blind, that there are other peoples who can see things that he can't even conceptualize or imagine, while the majority of his other blind friends, accept the fact that they are blind, that there is light and darkness, that they need those who can see to help them learn about the world the can feel and hear and smell, and to help them to imagine the world they can't see, after all they have seen how honest and right those people when it comes to the world they can feel and test, now why shouldn't they believe them when it comes to the world they can't see. we are blind to the metaphysical world, but we can feel and see the physical one, so when the prophets, all of them, come and tell us about the physical world , and we can see how righteous  and honest and accurate they are, then why shouldn't we believe them when they tell us about the metaphysical world that we can't see or feel, well you see the majority of us have passed this adolescent period of doubt and rebellion, we grew up, we do not feel we are very smart we figured it all, we are humble, coz we have seen the truth, that we are blind who need guidance from those who can see "the prophets", you can stay adolescent full of doubt and recklessness for the rest of your life, but one day you will see the truth we have seen, that you are blind, that day when you die, it will be late, there is no 2nd chance here, it is gameover, and you can't restart it allover again, then you will ask yourself, why did I do this, I knew that truth all the way long, what happened, how I became so proud to accept the truth, how I came to think that I am a logical person who believe in reason and science only and as such I concluded I am not blind, I do not need a God, when in fact logic and science was telling me I am blind , there is  a God, He is one and only, He is so kind He sent His prophets to show us the way, and I was so arrogant and ignorant, I started to make fun of them and laugh on them. you are a loser, a big one, the fact that most scientist whose inventions led to the modern achievements and scientific advancements, are in fact believers, and religious people, who was born believers, or "indoctrinated" as you said, but when they made their discoveries, they became true enlightened believers, for now the God they believed in by heritage, they now believe in him by reason and logic, and a minority of them lost their way and practiced the religion of noreligion called atheism for a variable period in  their life, but they reverted back to Him, exactly when they saw the fact that they are blind, and that science and logic points to Him, those are usually praised by atheists in their primetime and considered the smartest and awarded international or nobel prizes, , but when the revert to the truth, they are fought with aggressiveness and accused of suffering from old age crisis or dementia, not worthy of nobel prize any more. you see, again I "claim" that no single atheist has ever made such a beneficial discovery, coz if they did, they would believe, instead all atheists, without exception, are given titles and awards for no achievements at all, they are like Dictator war lords, who give themselves honorary titles such as "medal of bravery" ,"medal of honor", without fighting a single a fight, they are cowards who kill and bully on their own civillians, how come they earned these titles???!!!!, all atheists, rule the academic institutions in a dictatorial fashion, and give themselves titles because they discovered a tooth that says that humans are descendants of apes, only to find later on that the tooth belongs to modern pig, how can some one with a phd in biology make such a mistake, well he is nothing but a hoax fake full of shit who was given such a title only because he claimed God did not exist, and when you ask those phd fakers to a live debate on TV, they chicken like a pig.
at last, atheist are a dangerous "hate cult" that should be banned from societies, they are intellectual terrorists, and they have committed awful atrocities against humanity over the last century? atheist are criminals who never helped humanity, never?

to Him we all belong, to Him we shall return

I wanted to share a comment my bf made to me recently. Why is it that some scientists, doctors, etc., etc., who know where chemistry, physics, etc., come together and create life. Why is it so hard for everyone to accept what was put in front of us.

You say that religion is full of love, it is FALSE.

The majority of people who call themselves religious are hypocrites. And then there are the extremist believers who will even will other innocent human lives as a sacrifice for their God. Even the bible is full of contradictions, yet society has allowed itself to be ran by religion. Religion makes people unhappy, unaware of individuality, because you have to make others happy, it also makes you feel guilty for not doing what you are told. Why is it that we commit sins, such as sex without marriage we are not punished? where is the evidence that the arc of Noah existed? the ten commandments tablets?

Like any other society, we maintain and we believe in a God only to seek forgiveness from our mistakes. Even homosexuals are condemned by religion because they are not what God would want… what about real acceptance? The only explanation for acceptance is through scientific answers. The real ones.

But that is just my two cents of an opinion.

Hi "mytowcents", here is my answer:

long time ago, before modern telecommunications, people were ruled by a king they never saw, however they saw his representatives and mesengers, abide by his laws and paid taxes, only few actually saw him and they are the ones who deliver his messages to people, no one ever dared to question his command let alone his existence, coz the consequences were swift and grave,
I do not have to see Allah to believe in Him, I have seen evidences of His existence, Unity and Magnificence every where, I have received his commands that make sense to every reasoning human being, His mesengers " peace be upon all of them", were true historical leaders full of wisdom, sacrifice and mercy, now this KING, does not punish those who doubts his very existence or commands in this life, but He certainly does so in the next one, so keep denying his existence, keep telling yourself that u do not believe in Him, but try to remember when did u grow out the idea of a supreme one GOD, it is the moment u decide to become a reckless disobediant adolescent, coz thats what it's all about, a "period" of overinflated sense of self-governance and freedom, well guess what, being an antitheists, only make u look as stupid and ignorant as no animal can get, and a slave to your animalistic desire and your " mind-slavemasters", u are not impressing any one here by declaring your denial , and definitely u r not hurting GOD or His devout followers, u are just telling every one how weird stupid ignorant intolerant and full of shit u r, that's why people like me decide to believe in Him , though we have received the highest degree of scientific education, coz we are smart enough to believe in Him without seeing Him, coz we have seen his magnificence in every day life? I hope this answer ur stupid question?
by the way, even kids do not fall for these shitty documentaries even when packaged in a very scientific packages, they still read shit on the cover and we do not have to taste it to prove it is shit, we leave that to people like u , who likes to indulge in these, believing it makes them look smarter or people of science. well??, my advice try to sell that to 6 year old kid, and you will see that all antitheists are stupid ignorants. I choose to believe in Allah, coz I am smart enough to, and I did not need my MBBS or the Scientific Board of Surgery Certificate for that.

You cannot seriously be comparing a King you’ve never seen to a God  you’ve never seen. It is not about what is POSSIBLE, it’s about what is LIKELY. When my 5-senses independently confirm the existence of something, and this is furthermore backed up by other people’s experiences, then i have something that is WORTH believing. Your analogy here is absurd. Feel free to acknowledge the point i have made, although you won’t. Give us some evidence for your god and stop rambling.

I’m sorry but you come off as all the things you are labeling others with. It’s your tone you see, if you had anything good to say you wouldn’t resort to insults. Look, even though most of the scientific discoveries have lead us to question the old texts, I believe that a religious person such as yourself can still be a good faithful individual without having to close his/her eyes to reality. The only problem with organized religion is that mentality of “I’m right and everyone who disagrees with me is wrong” mentality. I mean how many embarrassments do organized religions has to go through before they get off their holier than thou complex? At this point we ALL know that religion (unlike personal faith) is not an indication of being “good.” I have known atheists who has a hundred times more likely to go to heaven (if it exists) than many “faithful” people. All you have to do is look at the world we live in today. I ask you this, imagine you have a 100 atheists and a 100 religious people, which group is more likely to have harmed another fellow human being?

Excuse me, but your claims of literacy and education seem to be at odds with your communication skills and bombastic attitude. You argue like a schoolyard bully who thinks that if he shouts the loudest and longest he wins the argument. When, actually, your ego and vanity illustrate your own inferiority complex and leaves others with the impression of one who should be labeled: “pathological liar”.

        • Timwasinjapan

You’re nuts! Where is this evidence for your god that you claim? And I have a passport and a driver’s license and a birth certificate that say i do exist. I was raised and indoctrinated a catholic so why would i know in my heart that allah was god. Why can’t you understand that atheists don’t hate god, but instead don’t believe that theists haven’t demonstrated any reason to believe that there is one. Furthermore, all that talk about whores is just weird. See a doctor!

      • Anonymous

timwasinjapan, there is no single piece of evidence for your existence, but when it comes to Allah, there is evidence in every atom in this universe not only for his existence, but for his absolute unity, justice, mercy, love, omnipotence, omnipresence, everknowing self, you know that deep in your heart, you were born with it, you can't even actively forget it, all you can do , is pretend you forget it, all of you are pathological liars, to yourself to begin with, and you expect other people to be as sick and twisted as you, so you can't feel alone in your sickness, that's called the "whore complex", a whore knows that she is a piece of shit, yet to justify her actions, she states that all other women are whores, a more expensive but subtle whores, but that pathetic attempt, reflects only how sick a whore is, if you are a whore, believe me, we are no whores, so keep doing what whores do, but save us the "pseudoscientific justification", you God-haters

Since time did not exist prior to the universe then whatever created it must be non-physical and outside time. Such an intellegence would know all it (or he) knows similtainiously.  This information is revealed through linear passage through time and the evolutionary process time allows to seperate portions of the creating intellegence that expanded out of the creating volume 13.7 billion years ago (i.e. the human race)  Inasmuch as love is a binding motivation, we can understand that it could not function as such without something to bind. Thus physical existence, engaged by intellectual reasoning from the perspective of separate physical bodies can be understood to be an inevitable by-product of a perfect motivating force existing outside time. Inasmuch as love is binding, we can also understand that it is also illuminating. Thus an inevitable, diametrically opposed motivation would not only be division justifying, but it would also be deceptive. This is the nature of human mechanical reasoning outside the influence of the love flowing between our consciences. The immense size, age and complexity of physical existence is, at the most fundamental level, nothing more then a necessary alternate path of understanding that must be provided to facilitate the deceptive nature of a motivation in diametric opposition to love (or illumination without boundary). Thus we can understand love to be a first-cause for everything else.  Evolution into a state of increased conviction of conscience allows us to see this and remaining in a state of base-level conscience leaves us to consider the things that are in this documentary

    • Benken78

so if the universe was created from nothing an everything has an equal is it safe too assume that the universe could just turn bk in to what it was before the big bang?quite as easily as it appeared?

      • Anonymous

If I understand your Question properly, I would say that the “equal” of the universe Is the last cycle of the same. If we can understand Love to be a flawless, binding motivation with the need for a diametrically opposed motivation, then we can understand that the universe, which supports the existence of deceptive,division-justifying intellectual reasoning, to be an automatic by-product of this perfect binding motivation. Since love is outside time it could not cease to exist because to do so would require a change and all changes must occupy a space in time. Therefore, when the universe collapses, it will automatically recycle to once again facilitate the necessary diametrically opposed motivation which will once again be subdued through the natural evolution into a state of increased sensitivity conscience.  Inasmuch as we can understand that love is perfect, we can understand that there can only be one version of a perfectly deceptive diametrically opposed motivation. Thus we can understand that not only is the universe cycling, but it is the exact same course of events from beginning to end in each cycle. this means that everything we are doing, we are doing forever. The universe was not created from nothing, it was created from the compression of the last cycle. Since time ceases to exist in the singularity of this “big crunch” it may be that the universe is a cycling process and a one-time deal at the same time. This may not be true but it seems to me that the starting and stopping of time would allow this to be so. Perhaps the cycling universe has support in a relatively common experience that many, including myself, have had.  This is referred to as de-ja-vu when we have an experience that feels as though it has happened before.  This may be because it has happened before, in the last cycle in an endlessly cycling universe.  There is a book called “The Third Measure of Meal” in which a new interpretation of the Bible, which the Bible itself says would emerge, is documented. It contains scientifically verifiable information on how the human race evolves from a base-level convicting conscience, to an increased sensitivity convicting conscience. It also provides the information given here about the cycling, diametrically opposed motivation.

I believe in god because I want to. I fear death too much to not want to seek comfort in this belief. I’ve been In situations were I thought I was going to die and felt completely alone. I would rather turn to god (real or not) then face death completely alone with no hope of any continuation. I want to continue, if you don’t that is fine.

ps. Maybe we shouldn’t fear death so much. i ‘believe’ that it is like when your asleep. like having a eternal surgery. ;) you can’t remember shit. total blackout. i believe everybody should for their own sake just accept the fact that we humans aren’t so much more different than a badger, cat or a fish. just look at our dna. that is a wake up call for anyone with a working brain. at first it might be scary but it’s really not. people, plants and animals has kept on dying for millions or even billions…of years. (creationists might disagree the ignorant morons..) …-and i haven’t heard anyone coming back whining about how horrific it is to die. have you? I believe one fabulous lady once said:
“When your Dead, You’re Dead, And That’s It!” -Marlene Dietrich-
So my friend, try stop worrying about death. Because maybe, just maybe… it’s to be Alive… (in my case, anyway) that is scary.                                     best regards… P.

  • Numberdude

Sorry, but I find this line of reasoning thoroughly unconvincing. It leaves too many questions unanswered. The first is: If the universe was created by the big bang 13.7 billion years ago, then why not sooner? Why not later? Was the time just “right”? Oh, I forgot. there WAS no time. The “no cause” argument just doesn’t make sense.

Further, if there is no god and no afterlife, then THIS life makes no sense at all. Why would humans be born with the ability to figure out the great laws of nature, only to come to the “realization” that life is pointless? All of our great mind power would be for nought. I don’t believe that nature is wasteful. We were given our brains to come to SOME conclusion about the universe. To use our brains to come to the conclusion that life is pointless seems to me a great waste of effort on the part of nature. There has to be a better “explanation” and it might turn out to be “unreasonable”.  I am beginning to think that the “answer” might be beyond our power to comprehend through reason. After all, the behavior of particles at the quantum level is unreasonable, yet it IS what happens. Science since the time of Galileo has always aimed at descriptions as opposed to looking for causes. Our best descriptions have turned out to be mathematical. We can describe gravity mathematically with precision, but we still don’t have the foggiest idea what it is. When we begin asking about causes, I believe that reason fails us. I like what Blaise Pascal once said. After a lifetime as a mathematician, he returned to theology saying “Humble thyself, impotent reason”.

on your first daft, idiotic point and question: ” Are you really THE Steven Hawking? If so, I am honored (sic)  to correspond with you. (Even though I disagree with you)

What sort of a numpty are you? yeah, Steven hawking is running around the internet as a guy who suffers from motor neuron disease “typing” and consoling internet commentators. Nothing else to be at.

On your second remarkably ignorant and narcissistic point, the fact that you find it unconvincing does not mean jack shit . Fortunately science is peer reviewed and not dependant on your opinion. Hawking has been wrong on a number of points. In your first paragraph dipshit, you answer your own question on time. Is it a rhetorical question, a question, or can you only converse with your own low IQ? I suggest you watch Lawrence Krauss ” a universe from nothing”. “I forgot there is was time” is a laughably childish comment.

your second paragraph paragraph shows the vile egotism and narcissism that exists in humans. Why should this life make sense? because poor little you can’t stand the fact that they may be infinitely unimportant. Look at the scale of the universe, we are an irrelevance. A blip in the ” comic darkness”.

” To use our brains to come to the conclusion that life is pointless seems to me a great waste of effort on the part of nature”

What can one say here??? Obviously  you, with this magisterial  pronouncement have calcultated natures resources and deemed it to be so. How “religious” of you.. This statement reeks of narcissism. Because we have have a evolved a higer form of conciousness, that obvioulsy make us VERY, VERY important in the grand scheme of things? Well, hey buddy, it does not. it just makes us top of the animal chain.

” that the “answer” might be beyond our power to comprehend through reason”

Gosh, where have we heard this before? I know, lets all worship a man who rides into town on an ass and sing hosanna.

“After all, the behavior of particles at the quantum level is unreasonable, yet it IS what happens.”

Not quite, we just are unsure of how to measure them, but with Human ingenuity and non  religious ass-foolrey we will prevail. There has already been steps towards this by measuring particles at extremely low temperatures.

. Science since the time of Galileo has always aimed at descriptions as opposed to looking for causes.

Are you serious? really? “oh look, it’s raining, its wet, kinda grey them clouds. Well, obvioulsy we have described precipitation, no need to find out what causes it.”

“When we begin asking about causes, I believe that reason fails us”

Well, stick with something more “reliable” and comforting” like religion.

Oh and by the way, never quote Blaise Pascal, his wager is pathetic.  “Humble thyself, impotent reason” NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.

First, I don’t know if there’s a God or not.  That said, with all due respect to Mr Hawkings as a scientist, that was the most stupendously arrogant load of bollux I’ve ever heard.  To make statements like you’ve actually proved the non existence of God and an afterlife by saying the sum total of the universe is zero because positive and negative energy cancel each other out?  By that logic YOU don’t exist.  There are so many things that science can’t explain it’s ridiculous and attempts like this are absolutely laughable.  How such a supposedly intelligent man could be so fundamentally short sighted is amazing and annoying to me.  Please stop stating your theories as eternal truths Mr Hawkings.  Be humble enough to admit there are many things that science is  incapable of explaining  or predicting.  You may be a very intelligent man but don’t seem to be a very wise one.

    • Timwasinjapan

Mr. Hawkings wasn’t saying, “there is no gOD”, he was saying that the universe works perfectly well without one. No need to put one in!

It seems you are projecting your own misundertstanding upon Mr. Hawking. By his logic, he exists as matter in counterpoint to a certain amount of negative energy, and this principle defines the origins of the universe. The main point I took from this, and there are several good ones established here, is that the Universe is made up of matter/energy + space _+ time_. Before Time, was nothing. Therefore no god to cause matter/energy and space.
Could there be a “Time God?” Science can give us the answer. It’s only a matter of time!

    • S.Hawking

By the way you speak I know you are a believer even if you say “i don’t know if there’s a god or not“… And the sad thing is that you sound irritated. That’s why I consider religion sort of like a powerful mental illness. Look at it this way… The church always condemned the greatest discoveries of science: The Earth Not being the center of the universe, the earth wasn’t flat, Evolution, etc, etc.
Why do you think it took humanity hundreds of years to recognize and absorb those scientific discoveries as facts? Because there have always been people like you, who negatively react against any scientific discovery that may contradict a particular religious dogma. With all the respect you deserve, I really suggest you open your eyes my friend :( We are really alone in this planet.

yeah I agree, I dont think hawkings really does any of these type of questions justice through his explanations and logic. Still leaves a lot open for debate

what I like to question is this:

If there is no god or higher intelligence how  is it that the universe is so well orchestrated ?

And why are the so called “laws of nature” are in existence?

One could argue its all to do with maths, but OK who or what invented maths?

My argument is if the universe came out of nothing, therefore the above doesn’t exists and then  “something” had to create them>

Even the presenter 1/2 contradicts himself buy saying you need a recipe, which is ingredients ,one is  IE energy .

    Where does that come from?

    • Peter ‘sweden’

ok. fair enough. but tell me… -who created the creator? hmm… ;/

    • Timgale

If god is omnipotent then why do we need a fine-tuned universe in the first place. He could have just willed it and we could be walking around happily breathing in poisonous gasses. Furthermore, the fact that we don’t know yet, doesn’t mean we should fill that void with god. It just means that we don’t know yet.

  • Michael Schmidt

I am a Christian and I love science. The explanation for the creation of the universe is to complex and has so many more open questions. This documentation makes it too simple in explaining how everything was supposingly created. Even scientists are batteling the different theories. It is equal to the question of the beginning of life.
There are so many more scientific and as also theological questions to be answered. E.g. according to the Bible God exists outside of time and therefore could have started the big bang. Where do the atoms come from? How did the first cell evolve. Questions over questions. Where is the first matter or the first energy come from?

Quote from Hawkings at the end of Part 3 the conclusion “If the universe adds up to nothing you don’t need a God who created it”. That is a very religious statement. I don’t think you can scientifically proof that God exists or not, you only can get a revalation about him.
If Stephen Hawkins does not believe in God, that is his personal thing! But to scientifically declare there would be no God out of his personal belief is very religious itself.

I wonder how Stephen Hawkins would react if God would completely heal him?

But in the deepest part of your heart, you know as well as I do, that this is not going to happen… That is because you are a person that uses logic for your survival,  and I know you also have your doubts about your God… but you are scared to even question them.

Man, feel free and open your eyes. Life is absolutely beautiful without any deity. I’m not buying it. If there was no time before the big bang it never could have been time for it to go off. The examples of particles appearing from nowhere is a phenomenon that occurs within the context of time and so a poor example. I think over trillions of years the entire universe could have uniformly filled with subatomic residue from static charges that one day flashed over with more of a fwoosh than a bang. As for where the big empty came from before that, the snap of an omnipotent finger remains a scientific possibility. A straight line evolution from light to heavy atoms is simpler and therefore more likely according to Akkam than Steve’s exploding super heavy atom from nowhere to no atoms to light atoms to heavy atoms theory.

Unfortunately, Hawkings like other atheists (Hitchens) argues against a God that he himself has imagined. When he says “God” didn’t create the universe he means that the big old guy with a white beard didn’t do it, or the giant magical chicken didn’t lay the universe egg or something else crazy like that. I don’t believe that current religions have it right, but I also believe that religion (like science) is progressing. As we have learned things about the cosmos our ideas about what God is has changed (most people don’t pray to volcanoes anymore). To say conclusively that God didn’t create the universe is inherently devoid of scientific logic, because I really don’t think you can conclusively say what God is. To say, “God didn’t create the earth in 7 days like it says in the bible” is much more reasonable. By saying that people who believe in God are incredibly stupid and obviously wrong only shows that atheism is as bad as catholocism was in terms of oppressing alternate opinions.

I seem to remember a time when “science” thought that is was a good idea to put leeches on you to suck your blood out, or that cigarettes were good for you. Have we completely given up on science because even when it thought it was right, it was wrong? No. Consider for a moment that religion too has made mistakes and that it is progressing towards a full answer in the same way that science is.

Nicotine do have good qualities(improved performance in certain parts of the brain), but yes of course cigarettes is bad looking at them from a health perspective… Leeches can be effectively used for medical purposes allthough other more modern methods are preffered today.

The progress of science is fairly clear to follow, the progress of religion is mainly to burn a few more phrases or pages of the holy books regularly as science progress.

      Let it Burn !

What I don’t understand is where this negative energy is…. I suppose that since matter and energy are almost the same, one can tun into the other then negative energy must turn into anti-matter and vice versa… That’s what I imagine… Correct me if I’m wrong. Maybe that’s not even proven… But if there is negative energy and anti-matter then where is it so that it doesn’t mix with positive energy and matter (which whould cause their annihilation) ?
It’s crazy… This documentary was great but I am a little bit confused anyways…

I feared that after watching this I would loose my faith (but I was too curious to resist watching it  ;) but I didn’t…

If one day science could explain almost everything at a point that all men stopped believing in God then I think the world would become an even worse place than it is now… It’s kind of sad…

If everyone stopped believing the world would get worse? what have religion contributed with in making the world better? Soothing us that there is an afterlife and our loved ones aren’t lost when they die perhaps?….. But a huge amount of all wars and conflicts between men are of a religious nature, a world without religion would be neat!

nice documentary, but… first i must say i am more of an agnostic in the sence that i have no absolute proof of my atheism, so now to the but, the explenation given in the documentary are excelent up to one point he say that the universe was created from negative energy that was frozen in time as there was no time but shortly before that they showed the example of the farmer digging a hole and making a hill saying that both compensated and equaled zero, so my question is what was the positive energy counterpart of the negative one doing while the negative was frozen in time and even if time was nonexistent before the big bang what or who made this none existing stuff that wasnt existing before time…i do understand the blackhole explenation but it still does not explain the presence of it before time…. maybe i got something wrong here but if someone could give there    me there point of view to try and clarify that part or point to me an explenation, oh and i dont want it to sound bad but please, no ”god did it” as it does not explain were god is from either, so its just replacing a question with another..

    I am agnostic…
I have a question regarding an argument in this doc:

Ok, so there is mater and antimater, and antimater pops up anywhere and then desapears, and that was one of the explanations for the big bang, that something could appear out of nothing. BUT, antimater pop up in an already existant universe, that means that it pops in time, so can we extrapolate that the universe can pop up out on nothing if there is no time?
Does my question make sense at all?

  • CSuppes

a couple issues with the doc.
1 Time does not slow or cease in a black hole. subjective time does continue as normal for the watch. only objectively from an outside observer does time seem to slow.
2 For a black whole to exist matter ie. energy must exist, If the beginning of the universe requires an infinitely massive starting point then what created the singularity.
3 N-Brane theory supposes that multiple branes exist and our universe is a consequence of a collision between 2 branes. At this point there must be a consideration of causal explanations. so something out of nothing can not be at this point be considered as the only explanation.
4 for the whole analogy to be considered anti-energy of equal amount must exist. As anti-matter annihilates it’s counter the question must be asked: If at the creation of the universe space was infinitesimally small the the likelihood of our universe existing approaches nil as there would be no chance for the distance between particles to inhibit matter/anti-matter interactions.

This was a really interesting documentary, and I think that it’s good because its something that keeps your mind churning it over with things that are unexplained. I think the great thing about science is that, for everything new you find out, more questions appear. Maybe they are explained, and I just didn’t understand it. Or maybe there wasn’t enough time for the documentary to cover everything.

But I wondered about a few things, if anyone knows the answer it could be really interesting to find out :)

As we cant go into a black hole, how do we know that there is no time within one?

So everything came from a very small, and incredibly dense black hole, and the big bang turned that hole into an entire universe where time, space and energy were created. Does everything that was created exist within that black hole or outside of it? If our universe does exist within that black hole, then can’t we say that time exists within it too?

If time can be created from nothing, can it be reproduced again? Could there be other “times” or universes created in this way outside of our own? just because our time doesn’t exist within another time, could it coincide with a different time outside of our own? Maybe there could some creator or an afterlife exist?

And finally, I’m just not sure that I believe something can have an effect without a cause. If the creation of a universe depended on that initial black hole to contain space and matter (and the documentary itself said that the tiny black hole where the big bang started would have been dense (density means the existence of a lot of matter, right?), then surely these things did exist within a black hole, and would have had to interact with each other in some way to initiate the big bang. Doesn’t that mean that the interaction (cause) and big bang (effect) could only begin a relationship once time had stretched out and allowed them to? So did time, then, not exist within the black hole to initiate the processes of the big bang? I guess he is saying that it did not, and obviously he knows more than I do, but I can’t imagine any effect taking place without a cause where time didn’t exist (especially where matter must have existed in a “dense” black hole even though that, supposedly, also wasn’t possible).

I think that this was a really interesting theory, but there still seems to be a few holes in it (haha unintended pun). Or maybe Mr. Hawking knows all of the answers but just didn’t have time to cover everything. I guess scientific knowledge is like a tree with more and more branches which grow out from one another, there can’t be time to cover everything. Or maybe he did and I just didn’t understand :) Either way I really respect Stephen Hawking and I think that this is a really possible answer. I would like to hope that it’s not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if its true.

soooo let me see if i can paraphrase, the universe was created by the big bang, and all the energy was stored/created in a black hole till it exploded and the universe was created, but by his definition a black hole is a star (made of hydrogen created from the big bang) so big that it collapsed in on itself, but where did all the hydrogen for the original star come from to cause it to become so big to collapse in on its self to create a black hole, another big bang? lol

Very Compelling explanation about origin of the universe. However I feel this is only true from physical dimensional point of view (considering 3D space and,  Time as another parallel dimension). I ask what if GOD is not affected by these dimensions and can exist in MultiDimensional space and time?.

I am not believer of GOD but  Can science explain the intricate design and planning of this universe without ’cause’?

Too many things in the bible contradict the truth. If science don´t have all the answers about the universe, then it does not mean God exists. science standing alone is searching for the truth through observation on what is really there. sometimes science can be wrong- but then the truth is reached again taking in new data and start over. If the bible is fucked up in one place- can you then edit it? we agree. Denial.

there are so many living things which has no brain like our, that’s what worries me a lot than the question of God existance

logic saying there is God more then anything else. depend how smart and intelligent you are. I see him everyday, sorry for whom cant see.

this film exaggerating so much to prove the otherwise. this is not science, this documentary has no scientific value at all.

    WOW!
It baffles me that so many people will argue about things no one truely understands with people they don’t even know on the internet. its cool to speculate, but good lord don’t write ten page essays back and forth forth to each other like pen pals from grade school.
And you (ya I started a sentence with “And”. Sue me!) Dr. Debater_in_cheif M.D maybe you should have become a physicist instead of a surgeon, so then you wouldn’t be trolling the internet looking for someone to metaphorically bludgeon to death with your degree. Instead you might be off actually helping discover truths that could bring us closer to the answers our species longs for. I know probably no one will read this, and I’m still radiating with blinding hypocrisy by even writing here but so be it!Now I’m off to actually study to become a physicist. Advanced partial differential equations for the win!!!!

it sounds like are more valid then saying god did it
yes i am not religious if you can’t tell

they have no reason wy the big bang happened and who put that mass of matter there. they just describe what happened but cant say why?accident?chance?they even dont know is it a cyrcle or uneding expansion.without god there is ni meaning for morals and human rights. we are just pices of matter.

    • Timgale

The fact that we don’t know how the universe got started does not mean that you can fill that lack of understanding with your god, whoever that may be. It just means that we don’t know yet. With that reasoning, you could have said that god was responsible for plagues, tsunamis and earthquakes 500 years ago due to the lack of immediate explanation for such phenomena. Also, biologists claim that our morals evolved just as they also did amongst other primates so that we could live together more productively. Lastly, does the universe owe you a meaning to your life: NO; get over it and be pleased for the life you got!

The thing I love about science is that it never claims to know all the answers. It’s flexible and it begs to be differed. Just because they don’t claim to know the whole story doesn’t mean the rest of the answers lie in religion (although they may, but we don’t know that)

Everyone seems to forget that religion when taken as a lifestyle is actually a very good idea.
If everyone on earth lived by the simple precepts “love your neighbour as yourself” and “Love God and see Him in all things including yourself” the world would just be a better place. This is the fundamental message behind ALL major religions. No one can say that that message is flawed or wrong in any way. Its simple logic.

The bible (and for that matter any religious text) was never meant to be read is a science book, its a moral text thats meant to guide one on how to get along better on earth. On that count it works perfectly.

The problem is that people say “Oh! Noahs Ark is impossible, hence the whole idea of God must be bullshit.”  And thats simply being closed minded and arrogant. The same is true of people who believe that the bible is 100% true scientifically even though modern science and logic disproves that.

I dont expect a 3000 year old Israeli goatherd to teach me about science any more than I expect a scientist (Mr Hawking) to teach me about religion. Good moral teachings are essential for humantiy and Equations and graphs will never take their place.
It is supremely irresposible when a scientist like Mr Hawking leads the weak-minded away from the sound moral principles of religion and gives poeple nothing in return.

Communism sounds like a great idea on paper as well. The problem is, the worldly application of these texts has lead to catastrophe, or at the very least organized religion (as opposed to belief in a higher power) has.

      • timmuh

Stalin did not commit atrocities because he had a mustache.

      • Comment Ninja

Catastrophe? Do you mean wars? Religion has never caused war.

Wars are fought over Land/money. Religion makes an excellent EXCUSE for war but its never a cause. Wars are rather expensive and no bank lends you money becasue “your cause is just”.

Any war you can think of was fought for Land/money (crusades, middle east…) with (twisted) religion serving as an excellent way to rally support and justify slaughter but troops dont eat faith and Heaven does not resupply armies.

If a war had no profit in it besides Religious significance then it would not happen and thats just a fact.

capitalism sounds like a good idea too on paper- but we all know that for example in the u.s capitalism or coorporatism runs the white house. The public think its democracy, but is it democracy when corporations run everything and its a lie. No – its “corporate dictatorship”. The we have the American notion of communism- thinks that for example Obamaś socialism is communism. In the first place Americans in general learn propaganda in school that is inaccurate. In my country you have the highest living standard in the world. Its not like in the u.s where for example you get shitty education in school. Do you know how many forms of socialism there are. My country is social democratic. Rates the highest on the u.n and white house human development index, meaning better that the u.s has ever achieved in freedom and living standard. Thats schools, education, healthcare , food safety, crimerate. I don´t even have to ask if your a republican American when I see your comment. welcome to the real world. people like me who is not as uneducated as you- we laugh at you. In fact the whole of Europe has school education that is better than yours about reality and history. seems like you idiots only know the history of the countries you go to war with. Not to be rude, but you are a stupid American. peace

    another patronizing documentary…

I wonder if the Persians who considered study of the stars to be a religious duty under Zoroastrianism, ever discovered anything interesting about the stars. Unfortunately Western civilization sometimes seems to believe that knowledge started with the Greeks. The Persians were so fascinated by the stars that the “3 kings” who foretold the coming of Christ were supposedly Persian Magi (priests). That is how famous they were in understanding the stars. Yet I have never heard anything in any documentary about what it was that they contributed to any science, sadly.

    • timmuh

There weren’t 3 kings, but 3 gifts. Just as people when asked seem to think that Adam and Eve ate an apple in the Garden of Eden. We don’t know how many Magi or wise men there actually were. Most probably none.

      • Montazeri

now that I think about it I believe the phrase I’ve heard was “wise men”, I maybe wrong.

Why is it that people must believe in something that is supernatural and godlike??
I can tell you how i see it but most of you “believers” wont like it because you are bounded, restrained and limited due to your tremendous fear of death! Yes…death is the reason for every religion and every god ever created in the human history! One just cant acknowledge and admit to itself the pointlessness of his life and time he spends living on this “tiny spec of dust” we call earth until the day he dies.
There is one more thing about believers i want to say.
Great majority of believers of any religion are driven to it by the environment they are caught in or born and raised in.I like to think it can be explained by the word “brainwash”. Now,everybody have the right to be anything he/she wants (at least thats the concept) but if people keep their minds closed and eyes shut to stuff like this above,we are all sentenced to be manipulated by the hands of the few who got it all..

    wake up
