Liviu Tipurita returns to his homeland of Romania to investigate stories he has heard that there has been a sudden rise in the trafficking of children into the sex trade. He meets an old friend, fifteen-year-old street kid Laurentiu, who tells him he’s been selling sex to foreign pedophiles since he was twelve, and that a wealthy German has bought him a passport so that he can be trafficked to the West. Laurentiu introduces Liviu to his gang of street kids, some as young as eleven, being preyed on by the pedophiles.

Liviu follows up stories of kids trafficked to Italy, and on the streets of Milan films a fourteen year old boy being pimped by his own father. Over weeks of investigation, several more cases of families selling their own children for sex are documented.

Back in Romania, he hears about an English pedophile/trafficker called Tom. Co-producer/director Andrew Smith infiltrates Tom’s pimping network, and films damning evidence of how underage boys are preyed upon and trafficked to wealthy pedophile clients in the West.

I hope that Tom rots in jail and they do the same to him… Bastard! I don’t know how it is to be a pedophile, but ruining a children’s mind, taking advantage of their situation, and exploiting them for money too, it is so disgusting and sad… Makes me angry.

Honestly, this was the most disturbing, yet oddly powerful piece of work I’ve ever seen. I really hope this brings awareness to some of the terrifying things that goes on in the world.

How can this world be so sick. I have no words to describe my feelings for the families of those kids, how can they do that to their kids, they are not parents they are as bad as those pedophiles, they are the devil. Oh my god, it’s just crazy, this world it’s just a crazy. It’s good that there are people out there taking risk and recording these documentaries, in able to show the world these realities. Some how I hope, really hope deep in my heart that one day those nasty, and crazy things will stop. I hope those kids can live a real childhood one day and do good with their lives.

If you are interested in learning more about child trafficking in Romania, watch the documentary Children Underground. It is devastating but honest.

    • Tara

Children underground has nothing to do with trafficking. It is just a documentary about street kids in bucharest living in the subway. It is an amazing documentary. But like i said, it has nothing to do with trafficking.
