Dogs Decoded

Broadcast (2010) “Dogs Decoded” reveals the science behind the remarkable bond between humans and their dogs and investigates new discoveries in genetics that are illuminating the origin of dogs—with surprising implications for the evolution of human culture. Other research is proving what dog lovers have suspected all along: Dogs have an uncanny ability to read and respond to human emotions. Humans, in turn, respond to dogs with the same hormone responsible for bonding mothers to their babies. How did this incredible relationship between humans and dogs come to be? And how can dogs, so closely related to fearsome wild wolves, behave so differently?

  1. Absolutely fascinating. I haven’t had a dog myself since I was a teenager, but love them nonetheless. I found the documentary to be one of the best I’ve ever viewed on any subject. If a sequel is aired I’d be one of the rapt audience.

  2. If I would believeing those so called experiments It shall works at the first time without Pavloviansk learning.

I am not sure that it was that we saw.

How did they prepared all those experiments ?

No they are only cute and a little more domesticated than wolves, and it’s the only difference for me.

I could now go deeper into what domestication is, but I decline to crush your illusions so you guys can continue try to fight to humanize an animal.

The industrialized human do not really understand  empirical studies on natural laws anymore so it attempts to access shortcuts and just invent a new wheel again and failing as usual.

  3. 24:00… I have a problem with this pointing test. Wouldn’t the dog smell the treat regardless of the woman’s actions? Hmmm.

  5. you got a thumb down just because you think it requires a treat to become a friend with dog. and because you carry chicken in your pocket while walking around shaking hands, touching balustrades etc . itll get you in trouble one day.

  6. Emotions? Sensitivity? C’mon this died when the Iphone was born.

  7. That was a dog gone good documentary. Ever since I was a kid growing up, the dog that we had was the best friend we had and the best security alarm as well. We knew long before ther was a knock on the door that somebody was in the yard. The dog gave so much love and affection that we couldn’t help but love’im back. They become a part of your family and it’s so sad that their life span is between 10 to 15 years and it hurts so much when they pass away. I stopped owning dogs a few years ago but I still love them and always carry some dog treats in my pocket. They’re good to have because you never know when you may have to show a strange dog that your a friend…chicken jerky strips are good…dog gone good.
