Embedded With Al-Qaeda in Syria: ISIS & Al-Nusra

Over two and a half years ago, unarmed protesters demonstrated in the streets of Syria demanding the downfall of the Assad regime. They hope that like the revolutions seen in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya the Assad regime would fall in a matter of weeks or months but this didn’t happen. After months of being gunned down in the streets, elements of the formally peaceful protestors took up arms and joined defected soldiers to form the Free Syria Army and fight back.

Since the conflict began more than 100,000 people have been killed and more than one million have fled or been displaced and the conflict itself has drawn in fighters from all sectors of society. This film sees a Vice corespondent gain unprecedented access Al-Qaeda in Syria.
