The Final Hour

The history of disbelief continues with the ideas of self-taught philosopher Thomas Paine, the revolutionary studies of geology and the evolutionary theories of Darwin. Jonathan Miller looks at the Freudian view that religion is a ‘thought disorder’. He also examines his motivation behind making the series touching on the issues of death and the religious fanaticism of the 21st century.

Another great doc. This is a wonderful series that holds a lot of wisdom applicable to todays issues. We must find a way to break this self destructive cycle of belief. It infects our children, often at our own bidding, like a virus. It spreads and quite often mutates in order to align itself with new scientific knowledge. Yet we seem to be obliviouse to this proccess and believe it to be a static belief system. The fear of death and inclusion in the often violent and unforgiving state of nature force this falsity upon our psychy. However we now posess the knowledge to do something about it, once you see it is a trick it can be treated as such.

Very good, I was amazed at how he opened his mind to us at the end.  Allowed us to see his vision of death.  I am truly taken away by this.

The speech towards the end about facing death with dignity and maturity reflected my own thoughts perfectly. Nice to hear from others who think that way.
