The Fight to End Revenge Porn

The way that we meet, flirt and become intimate has dramatically changed over the last 10 years, but now that so much of our private lives have migrated online we’re vulnerable in ways we have only just begun to understand.

Revenge porn is a new form of epidemic with thousands of websites dedicated to it. The term “Revenge Porn” itself is defined as the nonconsensual sharing of sexual materials and it occurs when videos and images shared in the context of a relationship are made public via such sites mentioned or through any form of social media.

Up until now victims of revenge porn have had few places to turn in seek of justice but with 26 states in the US now having specific revenge porn laws on the books it is becoming more and more accepted as an actual crime. However this being said revenge porn is still very much a growing problem, as a result Vice’s Broadly talks to affected women, their lawyers, and allied activists who are all fighting against non-consensual porn while navigating the uncharted territory of confronting these crimes in the offline world.
