Rating: 6.8/10 (30 votes cast)

This short documentary looks at the initial theories behind the
effectiveness of fluoride and where it originated. It goes on to show
the lack of science behind the use of Fluoride and reveals Fluoride as
a toxic waste substance that is being pumped into our drinking water.
The documentary will conclude by delivering the “hard to swallow
truth” of fluoride which pertains to why it is actually used.

I am a dentist and I always have had doubts about fluoridation of our drinking water. I have seen the harm that too much fluoride can do to your teeth and bones. I am convinced that the best and safest drinking water is water without chemicals of any kind. I would recommend that you tell your dentist that you do not want any topical fluoride applications and cleaning with products that contain fluoride. If he refuses or tells you that fluoride is safe and that you should trust him, tell him that you will find another dentist who agrees with you. Don’t let him intimidate you with his DDS or DMD diploma and his doctor title, fluoride is not good for you.

you.” No I will not. I will not take orders from someone on a message board.

IF you are a dentists your opinion is no less valid than this one dentist you describe who apparantly says “trust him”. However, you opinion is considerably less valid than the majority of dentists and professional dental organisations across the world that support the fluoridisation of water.

Why would anyone trust a dentist to tell them if fluoride is safe for anything other than their teeth?

Dentists can tell us it’s safe and maybe good for our teeth or possibly not, I want an actual doctor to tell me the other health dangers to my body or mind.

9/10 dentists agree that people shouldn’t seek medical advice for anything other than teeth from a dentist.

The other one probably feels you up in his/her chair.

Fluoride actually occurs naturally in any water, unless its filtered out.  You can have that checked.  So who knows who much fluoride was drank by the people the non-fluoridated areas unless the base line levels were checked first.

There are different types of fluoride and most are harmless like the naturally occurring types, what they add to the water is literally pollution.

There are in fact some toxic fluoride levels in natural water in some places too but it is not a natural process, rather a byproduct of the unnatural pollution.

It was that pollution being a problem that led them to decide to put it into our water supplies directly instead of just dispersing it in the environment to get rid of it.

But there is still some fluoride pollution today, and the solution should be finding a way of disposing of it without risking danger to the environment at large or human beings either.

And no the “either way it gets into the water, so who cares” argument doesn’t fly with me – both are preventable. Neither are that profitable though.

But hey, there is one positive aspect of it so if we just focus on that and ignore the bad stuff no bad stuff will ever happen…

Something that carries a warning to contact poison control if ingested in relatively small amounts in toothpaste form should not be put into something that is encouraged to be ingested frequently in significant amounts.

That is the commonsense approach to this issue, plain and simple.

But many people these days ignore commonsense as long as the “majority of experts agree…”.

Note: most toothpastes now just say “see data file…” online or some such thing where the actual warning is posted rather than having the warning on the tube/package(all kids fluoridated toothpastes must have it on the tube/package I believe though).

The problem with the “commonsense approach” is they can sometimes be overly simple. Your claim that because fluoride is posionous it must be avoided is overly simplified to the point of being critically flawed.

Consider there are many substances that can be extremely unpleasant to the human body but conversely are essential to its healthy function. Two examples are selenium & phosphorus.

Without selenium & phosphorus humans suffer, and deficiency can result in severe health conditions & even death … but both of these substances can also be exceptionally harmful.

What is important if the nature & extent of exposure

Cute, but I was referring to water.

@ John – Fluoride in toothpaste is proven to be valuable so long as it isn’t swallowed in dangerous amounts, fluoridating water has no proven effects that add anything more than just using fluoridated toothpaste alone provides while adding many possible health problems for the rest of your body.

I sincerely hope you are joking when saying fluoride is like other things which are required for life to be sustained, unless you have a scientific study that shows that human beings can not survive without the possible tooth protection provided by fluoride?

If someone wants to use fluoride in toothpaste they can choose to do so, adding it to the water is completely unnecessary and downright Orwellian in it’s ideal of jeopardizing people’s greater bodily health in the name of supposedly having fewer cavities.

Forcing a potentially dangerous substance down people’s throats is disturbing to me, especially when the possible ill-effects of smoking pot supposedly are the reason it is illegal and punishable with prison time, even though it has far more medicinal value than fluoride ever will.

What’s the difference? The difference is in the similarity – its all about what is profitable(or not) for the corporations behind it.

When the risks outweigh any possible rewards commonsense is commonsense… unless you prefer to trust the “expert opinions” instead.

Please re-read my comment; I never said that.

Which part of your comment has anything to do with anything in this video? “Too much of anything can be toxic”. Well yes, that’s true, but fluoride actually is toxic waste. You do not need to be a highly intelligent person, like yourself, to see that you do not want this substance to be going into your body. “Back up your opinions with some real data from real sources”. This information (not opinion) comes from actual study done by highly respected people (real sources) in the field. “Only ignorant gits would take this video to heart”. Attacking people on a personal level, never gets old. “Crazy people on the fringe who insist on everything being a conspiracy theory”. An other fine classic example. Sure, the reasons ‘why’ goverments are doing this lie open for debate. But what you are doing is insulting, not debating. Which is exactly what, for example, religious people do when you face them with facts about the unlikelyness regarding their believes. When all the arguments fall burning down to the ground; they either start insulting the opposing party (in hope their victims fall silent due to shock), or throw it all on the ‘God phenomenon’. Which in this case, you are doing both. You do not think fluoride is bad for you? Ok, show us why. You do not think fluoride is one of the factors helping goverments control the masses? Again, show us why. And remember, ‘just, because’ is not an argument. It is you inferring to the stupidity of other people. I myself am not a ‘conspiracy-geek’, but I also do not discard the idea for its possibility. In fact, I have seen more events and details that would lead me into believing its plausibility, than to throwing it out all together. Keep an open mind people, things aren’t always what you believe them to be.

“but fluoride actually is toxic waste.” No it isn’t. Fluoride is toxic above a certain concentration (and safe below) but it is not a waste.

“You do not think fluoride is one of the factors helping goverments control the masses? Again, show us why.” That is asking for a negative to be proved. Also, it is beholdant on those making wild claims to provide substantial evidence rather than for doubters to disprove the outlandish claims.

I guess Equinox is all for guilty until proved innocent.  I agree the people making the wild claims need to provide substantial evidence to change the paradigm not the other way around.  I would love to see some shred of evidence how fluoride aids in the control of the masses.  And as for the people in Uganda with less cavities – I bet when the data was taken practically no one was drinking multiple sodas per day as many do here in the US – likely either not available or not affordable.  I love the commercial with how the guy driving the coke truck brings smiles everywhere – he also likely brings tooth decay and diabetes too.

            To the people above:

Let me define my definition of toxic waste.
A poisonous substance which is a by product (or aimed product) to an industrial process, which has no practical use (commodity) into aiding health or well being of life.

Sure it is safe below a certain amount, but that amount is insanely low (25 milligrams does damage, 10 grams becomes deadly. Has all been proven).
This does not matter if the substance would have benefits. Worth the risk, so to speak.
But industrial sodium- fluoride (, sodium silicofluoride and fluorosilic acid), has none of the benefitial qualities (health-wise) that have been written onto it. All these given qualities (health-wise), come from an other substance. Natural occuring fluoride.
It does have qualities that are benefitial, but these have nothing to do with aiding your teeth. Or anything regarding your body, for that matter.

Some people above point out it is ridiculous to ask for prove for some ideas. Which they stand correct on. But I never did so.
All I ask, is, to not just blur out hate-filled remarks, but tell why you disagree on the subject. And if you must, give your personal reasons for disliking such ideas.
“Admiration brings knowledge, disgust makes blind”.

And once again, I am not a ‘conspiracy-geek’. I just state facts as I see them.
True, I do not have light feelings for our way of life. But it has nothing to do with conspiracies.

Maybe it’s a language thing, for english is not my first one. Maybe I have a different picture in my head for certain words, I do not know. But for some reason, people do not see what I am saying.

What? I do not see how you could get that from my words.
            For I am realy not.
Although, it is an interesting concept (applied to the world today). If everybody would have to prove that what they were doing was for the good of everybody..

One last funny thing, all the positive words on the subject of industrial fluoride, come from America. I live in Europe, where you will not find one study (that does not originate from America, or is done by people who work for american companies). that will agree.

Just keep your mind open, do not fall into predudice.

Well said what? Equinox’s comments indicates a very severely limited scientific understanding, and an extremely twisted outlook on life.

For example: asking someone to prove goverments are not using aerial spraying to control the masses, whereas such bizarre claims require conclusive support and not proof against.

Amazingly after describing a global conspiracy he / she noted “I myself am not a ‘conspiracy-geek’”.

And, as another person noted, he / she claims fluoride is a ‘toxic waste”. The waste from what????

I love the part about how fluoride “rots” the enamel.  What a load.  Just another of several mistakes in this poorly done video.  Not surprised that the average person doesn’t know what fluoride is in the water for.  The average person doesn’t floss either I bet.  I will also bet if I ask my dental hygienist if she uses fluoride that she does.  I also bet that she doesn’t have any cavities either.  I am not going to say there is a link here though as I bet she also just plain keeps her teeth really clean.  I don’t know that there is much to debate here because as Equinox said it like dealing with religious people who are not open to debate, except here its someone who insists that the world, but mostly the government and dentists are out to get you.  By the way beta-carotene from carrots is toxic in too high amounts too.  Maybe you should stop eating vegetables as well.  Its just another form of mind control anyway.  Ha Ha Ha…

Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Mandrake? Children’s ice cream!…You know when fluoridation first began?…1946. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It’s incredibly obvious, isn’t it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That’s the way a hard-core Commie works.

    see firewaterfilm.com            http://www.fluoridealert.org

Tasmania Australia first fluoridated in 1953 and ongoing through all Australia -  all states fluorosilicic acid/silicofluoride poisoned (aka water fluoridation) (& contains co-contaminants of lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium etc)    – heavy % ‘fluoridation’ in all Australia – mental health, dental health,  alzheimers, kidney disease crises and bone diseases.  This toxic waste pollutant must stop being added to our water supplies.
