In 2003 the director of this film, David Graham Scott, chose a bizarre way to end his long term opiate addiction by means of a psychedelic plant root called Iboga, in the hopes of getting over his dependance on methadone once and for all. After his success, David now wanted to find out more about the “wonder drug” Iboga and discover whether or not it truly was the magic bullet that cured his drug addiction. For over three years he followed various addicts, treatment providers and medical professionals who would hopefully give him the answer. The result of which is this film, where he himself weighs up the ethics of getting so deeply involved with this controversial detox option and what will be his final resolve on the efficacy of it?
