In Pot We Trust

The medical use of marijuana is examined from every side of a very complex issue with this documentary that charts the suffering of four chronically ill patients whose reliance on the illegal drug as a pain killer is in jeopardy due to federal anti-narcotic legislation. 1. Cannabis is used to reduce nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy, to improve appetite in people with HIV/AIDS, to treat chronic pain, and help with muscle spasms. Its use for other medical applications is insufficient for conclusions about safety or efficacy. Short-term use increases minor adverse effects, but does not appear to increase major adverse effects. Long-term effects of cannabis are not clear, and there are concerns including memory and cognition problems, risk for addiction, risk of schizophrenia among young people, and the risk of children taking it by accident.

The medicinal value of cannabis is disputed. The American Society of Addiction Medicine dismisses medical use because of concerns about dependence and adverse health effects. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that cannabis is associated with numerous harmful health effects, and that significant aspects such as content, production, and supply are unregulated. The FDA approves of the prescription of two products (not for smoking) that have pure THC in a small controlled dose as the active substance.

  6. Nice article, around 95% of the websites on Googel were gibberish. Question: do you think sites such as how to roll a joint should be censored for minors?

  7. Thanks for this post, like 99% of the sites on bing were gibberish. Question: do you think sites like how to roll a joint should get ranked by google for minors?

  8. Aight this medical shit is getting out of hand. I live in Colorado Springs, CO and this time last year we had 3 dispensaries in the city now we have somewhere around 80. Now are you going to tell me that we have that many people with legit ‘medical reasons’ for housing 80 something dispensaries?! I think not. And this is the problem with ‘medical marijuana.’ I love to smoke cannabis, but I will not even begin to fake or exaggerate that I have a medical problem that is solved by using it, I just fucking like to smoke! So I say this whole medical deal is some shit because the weight in medical use is very low and weight for recreational use is very high and this is the reason why old fuck traditionalist and people who run with the ‘reefer madness’ mentality will not budge. I think when you see the people in this movie or any other one like it the ‘patients’ with legit reasons for use as MEDICAL is quite clear and well founded. I say all that to say the fight should be to legalize it completely and stop playing the medical card when it is recreational use that people get dumb-ass jail time for and lives are ruined.

    • People who love to smoke cannabis don’t freak out like you. Smoke a doob, bro.

    • You are not the arbiter of what is legitimate.  Your a piece of gargage.

    • I agree to a certain extent with you. But the problem is its not going to be legal for recreational purposes because the profit machine wont let it. The Pharma Co’s have the politicians paid off and until they can get a piece of this thats how it will stand. So in order to make it easier for YOU to be able to smoke for fun we have to backdoor the system and legalize it medically. Our other route is to legalize it in individual states, which is in the process as we speak. Dont hate on medical marijuana when its medical marijuana that is making it easier for you to smoke just to smoke and not be thrown into jail for it. Wake up dude and support your smoking brothers. Dont be a hater.

      • There’s alot to be said for sticking to your principles. Now spare a thought for us Brits who do not have the option of medical marijuana. That’s why we ignore the unjust law criminalising cannabis use, get on with it and take our chances. It’s a far more honest approach.
