The Jinx

The Jinx is a documentary mini-series which consists of six episodes that delve into several murder/disappearance cases for which Robert Durst has been and is still the prime suspect. Durst himself is an American real estate heir, the son of New York City mogul Seymour Durst and in 1982 his wife Kathie vanished into thin air. Many believe Durst to be responsible for this but given the fact that there is no real crime scene and the body has never been found it is very hard to prove.

The film also investigates the 2000 execution style killing of Susan Berman, and the 2001 death and dismemberment of Durst’s neighbour Morris Black in Galveston, Texas. We see the use of wide array of archived footage footage from news reports, police evidence and interviews which were conducted at the time.

Over the course of these six episodes the story becomes very interesting as we learn all the evidence and circumstances surrounding the cases themselves, through the 20 hours of recorded interviews with Robert Durst for this film it also becomes clear that all is not what it seems as he makes several suspect remarks which in fact led to his rearrest before the final episode of this series aired.

  1. This series is very gripping. I was torn and was leaning more towards Durst being innocent because of his demeanor. Like Andrew, I began to feel almost sorry for Durst. If you have not seen this series, I urge you to take the time and enjoy it for yourself. I will be sharing this docu-series on my social media accounts.

  2. real good crime documentary by HBO.
