Madeleine Mccann 10 Years On

Madeleine Mccann must be the most famous missing person in the world and this year marked the tenth anniversary of her disappearance which occurred on May 3rd, 2007. 10 years on and it seems we are still learning new things about the case.

Two police forces in two countries came to different conclusions with regards to what happened to her. So what really happened in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz? In this Panorama special for the first time we hear from Portuguese detectives as they tell us what they think happened.

Reporter Richard Bilton, the presenter of this film was also there to cover the story when it first happened back in 2007. Here we see him return to Portugal in order to examine the evidence and track down the men who the British police originally suspected for the crime.

  1. One thing that this documentary fails to point out is that the parents who are both doctors on doctors incomes failed in the care of their daughter by not spending a little money on a babysitter or full time carer of the children while they were out parting as most normal parents would especially in another country. As a parent no one can say to me that leaving children under the age of five years of age alone by themselves is anything but criminal.

  2. an intriguing film that raises more questions than it answers about the disappearance of Madelaine McCann. Although it tries to tell the story without bias, it’s hard not to reach the conclusion that the parents know a lot more than they are saying and that they were involved in the death of their daughter, at least inadvertently, and then panicked. It also seems pretty clear that the real truth will never be known (unless one of the parents finally speaks). Absolutely worth watching even if you aren’t familiar with the case.
