Making of The Shining (With Commentary)

This version of the documentary has commentary by Vivian Kubrick “Stanley Kubrick allowed his then-17-year-old daughter, Vivian, to make a documentary about the production of The Shining. Created all originally for the British television show BBC Arena, the documentary offers rare insight into the shooting process of a Kubrick film.”

  1. I don’t hear any commentary.

  2. I liked Vivian Kubrick’s commentary. Just wish it and her documentary had been longer.

  5. Interesting because people involved were not so much ‘on their toes’ during the filmimg. Some facinating shots of ‘blood’ being pored/swept over floor but nothing said. Good info re bushes/snow etc that tied in with the camera shots. BUT – sound quality…. overloud, breathy commentary – possibly deliberate to enhance a feeling of intimacy, just looking in on the process – but was becoming annoying especially when I couldn’t hear the ‘wonderful’ music that was referred to at end of documantary.
