Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism

“Outfoxed” examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, have been running a “race to the bottom” in television news. This documentary provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public’s right to know.

The film explores Murdoch’s burgeoning kingdom and the impact on society when a broad swath of media is controlled by one person.

Media experts, including Jeff Cohen (FAIR) Bob McChesney (Free Press), Chellie Pingree (Common Cause), Jeff Chester (Center for Digital Democracy) and David Brock (Media Matters) provide context and guidance for the story of Fox News and its effect on society.
This documentary also reveals the secrets of Former Fox News producers, reporters, bookers and writers who expose what it’s like to work for Fox News. These former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to push a “right-wing” point of view or risk their jobs. Some have even chosen to remain anonymous in order to protect their current livelihoods. As one employee said “There’s no sense of integrity as far as having a line that can’t be crossed.”

  1. I think Fox was chosen as the focus due to the fact that they are on one extreme in their tactics. Obviously the majority of news organisations have stringent biases, this is just an example of one. I find it useful to look at a specific example, and remind everyone to think for themselves.

Also the embedded video isn’t working. This link works:

  2. What I love about this documentary is how it goes beyond the hyper-partisan nature of Fox So-Called-News that makes “Fair & Balanced” on of the most preposterous slogans in the history of broadcasting and exposes the real problem with Fox. The lying. And the indisputable fact that it comes straight from the top. Pointing out that Fox “News” viewers are the most misinformed of any consumers of cable news is an added bonus.

I should also point out that it’s no surprise that comments include MSNBC false-equivalency. And that the attack on Rachel Maddow is clearly from someone who doesn’t watch the show. Dr. Maddow REGULARLY has guests that she doesn’t agree with. In addition, she always starts with a well researched and smartly written introduction, and when moving from introduction to interview, always invites the guest to call out anything in the introduction they disagree with. Then conducts an interview that even if confrontational, is always executed with respect.

Pop Quiz: Name THE interview that Dr. Maddow – supposed “liberal guest only” television host – would like to snag more than any other. (Answer: “Any Cheney.”)

  3. I got too 27:16 before being disgusted by this “mockumentary”. Really you look at CBN, CNN, MSNBC, BBC News etc etc and they all use the same techniques, the only difference is that FOX is conservative. Get real.

Take Maddow for example, her guest appearence list entirely Liberal/Progressive, and the few chances she brings in an alleged “right wing” person in, its a middle aged male redneck with a brain of a peanutt spewing racist slurs to reinforce her propaganda.

oh and btw, if you are too ideological to understand that everyone is ideological and all media is propaganda then…

    SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! >:D

  4. MSNBC shows things from diverse perspectives? haha give me a break. it only embraces left winged positions on every issue.

Call a showel for a showel, only reason people hate FOX is because they disagree politically.

THERE IS NO FAIR OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM (exept when its your perspective being enforced right?)

Suck on my chocolate salty balls

  5. Doesn’t seem like a fair and balanced documentary.
