Superbat

This is a story set in the dar recesses of science and the star of this tale is a creature of the night, an animal with skills that have defied explanation and inspired tales of horror. Its reputation has been blackened by rumours of evil and villainous pursuits but for centuries brave scientists have sought to conquer this mysterious creature convinced that it holds secrets that could change our world.

In this 48-minute documentary we explore the world of bats and the scientists who study them. One such scientist includes the late Donald Griffin, a Harvard zoologist who first discovered their ability for echolocation back in the 1940’s. Using 3-D graphics to demonstrate how bats function in flight and capturing them with infra-red and high-speed cameras, this documentary offers a unique insight into their world.
