Swansea Love Story

Rule Britannia scours the UK to partake of all the sordid offerings of this green, pleasant and messed-up land. Under the surface of Swansea, things are a little different than it initially looks.

Here they befriend a gang of young addicts caught up in South Wales’ largely ignored heroin epidemic. We find topless fire-breathing dance troupes, old sailors, and two little kids in one of the city’s most drug-ravaged council estates. We visit a demonstration by the Welsh Defense League which turns into something of a race riot.
Reforming addict Lee Dennis talks about decorating his blood-spattered house and demonstrates his love of Swansea City FC. An ex-dealer by the name of Old Famous Clinty talks about the pitfalls of methadone and how he’s determined to turn his life around, and so much more.

  1. When there’s hundreds of thousands of druggies: cull them. Their numbers are too great to effectively help them all. Dealers should get the death penalty. Give them a choice: lethal heroin injection, hanging, or firing squad. just don’t torture them by letting them rot in jail. Think of it as a humanitarian move. Ethnicity be damned.

  2. what ignorant fools you all are: a heroin addiction is an illness and it kills thousands. people turn to heroin because they see no other way out of a vicious circle of poverty, or cannot escape the repressed, tragic memories that others couldn’t even begin to imagine (an example being the girl in the film whose mother sold her for drugs). she was born to somebody who couldn’t give her what she needed and as a result she has followed the same path. people like this need help, not judgement. humanity truly does disgust me.

  3. I w ould love to see a followup of where they are now.

  4. Kill all the Junkie Jack Bastard scum

  5. I don’t understand why these situations are not remediated for the benefit of every country in the world…..Not just for the obvious to stop the hurt and abuse….But the drug culture is a strain on the economy….Drugs are not taxed and either are the dealers…The users are all on gov benefit so they don’t help with taxes and millions must be spent on the social help provided for the users…Makes no sense to me……They blame the immigrants for the job losses but how many of them could really hold down employment….Riding your own mother as well like….REALLY????

  6. its like this all over the uk

  7. wat a cruel thing havin a habit iz all u nob heads kill the junkie fucks go sniff sum bubble at weekend

  8. It is horrible. And understandably when you grow up in a crack household, and even worse then your own mother whores you out as a child then you really do need help and imo deserve help from tax payers as none of us get to choose our parents. That being said, there is ALWAYS a way out on your own, but I’m certainly not one to judge others for their choices or inability to make the right choice. Very sad doc.

  9. It is hard to understand their Canadian accents. I do not know why Britain made a movie over there. Canada should illegals the smackhead duh

  10. as one of the “star” of this doc. said, don’t blow your life! Just don’t blow it

  11. Cannabis is a reasonable choice over alcohol and tobacco. Most other recreational drugs are for losers.

  12. All of Britain is like this, but Alcohol is still biggest killer!!!

  13. Truly an Evil substance heroin is… We as a society need to go hunt the scum who profit from this trade.

    • That’s a great idea Steve!!! Why has the government even thought of that? That would solve everything!!!! I mean.. yeah hunt the ones profiting and that will solve everything..

wait a minute.. no.. they tried that, it didn’t work.

dude, in ares where heroin is popular, there are thousands of dealers, for every 2 – 3 people, there’s someone who sells.. one person sells to support his/her own, and it’s an entire chain..
you cannot go up the chain because it’s two it does not work like that.

Tough on crime does not work and it never will work, punishment does not prevent the crime.. some countries like China has death senetences even for weed, does it stop anyone ? NO

The government needs to examine harm reduction – You should look up heroin assisted maintenance. The government supplies the addicts with heroin.. it’s similar to methadone, but methadone does not work for everyone.
Heroin Assisted Treatment has proven to be VERY effective. Even if you only get 1,000 people on this program, that’s 1,000 people being taken away from buying off street dealers

  14. The dog looked well though eh?

  15. The accent isn’t too bad, but the larger subtitles are nice.

  16. Swansea is very different now to when I lived there. I guess changes are part of life.

  17. OMG this is shocking…Is it only in Swansea or the whole of UK?

  20. The dealers? Tell you what, let’s execute those hard working businessmen with nice lives and a pool in the garden who deal heroin in quantity. Solve the problem in one well-aimed stroke without the facile and time wasting idiocy seeking to make villains out of the victims. It’s called ‘intelligence’ and you might like to make its acquaintance sometime.
