substantial numbers of advanced Buddhist practitioners take 3 years of mostly isolated meditation where they have extremely little communication with the outside world. sitting in a cell meditating all day and having their meals delivered.
the question is WHY a human seeks sensory deprivation. when it is forced as punishment, or done as ‘temporary’ experiment. it can be particularly excrutiating.
