International award-winning filmmaker Kevin P. Miller of Well TV announced the release of a new documentary about the threat to medical freedom of choice. We Become Silent: The Last Days of Health Freedom details the ongoing attempts by multinational pharmaceutical interests and giant food companies — in concert with the WTO, the WHO and others — to limit the public’s access to herbs, vitamins and other therapies.

We Become Silent is narrated by Dame Judi Dench, the noted UK actress who has won multiple Golden Globe awards, an Oscar, and a Tony for her on-stage work, in addition to dozens of other honors throughout her prestigious career.

    What a horrible film!
This is a very polemic, fear feeding and one-sided story they tell and, because of all the the things they leave out, a false and twisted picture they paint. Furthermore some things are just wrong.
To say medication “often has no effect or is killing you” does not take into regard the many cases it saves lives when the only other option left would have been death. And still in cases like cancer, there simply is no easy cure, and for sure it is not vitamins.

MOST important: VITAMINS CAN KILL YOU!!!! Not Vitamin C for example, because it is excreted easily, but other aren’t. They accumulate and if you overdose them and they can kill you. SOME OF THE MOST DEVASTATING SUBSTANCES ARE NATURAL: Neurotoxins like ANTRAX & BOTOX; Drugs of abuse like HEROIN & COCAIN!!!!! Just because it comes out of a plant, doesn’t mean it is harmless.

IF YOU WANT VITAMINS, and you should have get loads, EAT VEGETABELS!!!! What makes you think the people who put vitamins in pills and sell them are any different from people who put aspirin in pills and sell them. SUPPLEMENTS ARE A HUGE INDUSTRY TOO!!!! Growing fruits and veggies in your garden and having five servings a day isn’t.

Eat veggies don’t pop pills and help protecting people from the greed of (vitamin) pill producers by getting them tested and properly dosed, like other medication too.

Here you feel the fear of a market, which sells supplements for billions. The fear of proper labeling, safety and efficacy testing for supplements. There are people dying because they believe the lies that vitamins can cure cancer. There just is no bulletproof cure for cancer, at least not for all of them.

    Excellent film!

If the film is one sided, it is because the other side chose not to accept the invitation to participate and/or asked for the camera to be turned off when things got too uncomfortable.

Pharmaceuticals can be dangerous, even when taking the recommended dosage. The side effects don’t always make them worthwhile. Big pharma is motivated by money. The freedom to choose is what is being fought for here.

This film does not claim that vitamins are harmless in massive doses. This film does not discuss dosage. It does not say anywhere in this film that if it comes out of a plant, it is harmless. This film does not claim that Vitamin C can cure cancer. It is mentioned as an example of an instance where Vitamin C might be taken but it is not elaborated on and does not ask the watcher to believe it is a single handed cure.

This film does not discourage anyone from eating vegetables. In fact, the subject matter insinuates that the film makers are very much vegetable advocates….probably not GMO’s though, but that is a subject for another documentary. (Food Inc, The World According to Monsanto, The Future of Food, etc.)

There are people dieing from chemotherapy too.

This documentary is not about the effects of medication or vitamins, it is about freedom of choice for each individual to pursue health through their own understanding. Freedom of choice should never have to be the choice. It is up to each individual to define their own health choices through education and an understanding of their own self.

There’s one thing needed if you want to give peoples the possibility to choose the correct treatment: information. And the phrasing “freedom of choice” often relates to the market; often the insinuation is that the market delivers that.

And most of us knows that the market seeks profits. It’s here the strain between objective information and profits will take place. The demand to make profits might, often it will, push away objective information, as objective as objective can be that is.

The lure of bigger profits will more then enough make a company to hide, alter or trivialize information in order to protect their profits and their products. So for me it’s laughable when someone, not saying that you do Dot, claims that the market will deliver anything that could be called objective information about their own products.

And the market doesn’t care to scrutinize other companies products if they don’t profit from it; rarely they will. So before we can make informed choices we should put much effort in pushing for a transparent market, government and society as a whole.

We should disconnect the market and the government. This should be one of our biggest concerns in order to secure or gain our democracy, freedom and our continued survival.
