What on Earth is Wrong With Gravity?

Particle physicist and ex D:Ream keyboard player Dr Brian Cox wants to know why the Universe is built the way it is.

He believes the answers lie in the force of gravity. But Newton thought gravity was powered by God, and even Einstein failed to completely solve it.

Heading out with his film crew on a road trip across the USA, Brian fires lasers at the moon in Texas, goes mad in the desert in Arizona, encounters the bending of space and time at a maximum security military base, tries to detect ripples in our reality in the swamps of Louisiana and searches for hidden dimensions just outside Chicago.

  1. I love Brian Cox. His enthusiasm is catchy

  2. Ahh,, they disappear in eternity where they come from, where there is no time. Time is not a constant as you know. You can’t balance mendelbraght equations in mathematics, they go into infinity. The source of the material is the spiritual. St John of the Revelation said it 2,000 years ago. In the beginning was the Word. You found your 4 conerstones and a Higgs field. Time is the Higgs field. Bible says there are 4 foundations, you found them, good job. You can’t smash waves like you can particles, this is as far as you go. Unless, you inherit the kingdom of heaven which is in eternity. Good Luck, honestly, there is eternity enough for everyone. The Command of God is Life Eternal. It is the Prime Directive ( ala Star Trex) of all Creation. The purpose of life is for life to give life to life, unto Eternal Life,. Love does not end in death, but multiplies in Eternity. Yaaahooooo!!!

  3. Brian Cox is a fantastic teacher thanks for bringing science to the masses.

  4. Good one. But in his voice-overs I wish he didn’t sound quite so much like he’s describing a carnival ride to a 5 year-old, from time to time…

  5. The information in this documentary is excellent, agreed, but less Brian Cox, more CG videos. This guy spends more time in front of the camera than Carl Sagan but doesn’t even have the billions and billions to back him up  –  I really don’t need to see the vanity of Brian Cox in 15 different outfits to better understand gravity. Furthermore, why did he fly all the way to the US to explain gravity? Do they not have it in the U.K?

    • With the magnitude and significance of Brian Cox’s schedule it is almost ignorant to suggest that a man with such brilliance was just sent to America to film a small segment for this series. He would have been filming a collection of series at the same time, let alone meeting dozens of also significant and like minded individuals for intellectual brain melds and a game of tekken, no doubt! And the reason for Brian Cox taking all that time to stand in front of the camera, just for your discomfort, is actually to reinstate the leading position of publicising physics and cosmology. Following in the footsteps of his hero, a hero you have already stated, Carl Sagan. And one last thing, seeing as you may have (i dont know) grasped the concept of space time after watching so many Brian Cox documentaries, that they do not film the show all in the same day, so therefore I postulate that Brian Cox just so happened to be wearing a different outfit during each segment of the desired film dates. Live Long and Prosper

    • Natasha – Why did you waste precious time on this documentary if you think the presenter is so narcissistic?

    • I take it you don’t like Brain Cox?
