On the streets it is referred to as Crystal, Ice, and Crank. Methamphetamines are viciously addictive and provide the hyperactivity effects of Cocaine along with the delusional effects of LSD. As opposed to getting a short `high’ from other drugs, this one will keep users pumped up from 6 to 12 hours and create feelings of paranoia, invulnerability, increased strength, euphoria, and may cause some to react in a violent fashion. As for health concerns, it rots the teeth, suppresses the appetite, induces insomnia, and causes brain damage among other things. Its ease of use makes it even more insidious as it can be swallowed, snorted, injected, or smoked and it is cheap to buy or can be easily manufactured by almost anyone.

Amphetamines can be found in virtually every community from the smallest towns to the largest cities and it radiates through all walks of life from the lowest to highest social classes. It is estimated that there are 26 million worldwide users of this drug. When law enforcement in the United States began to make a concerted effort to eliminate methamphetamine labs, supply then began to come from Mexico using routes already established by Cocaine Cartels.

The World’s Most Dangerous Drug is only 50 minutes long but this is more than enough time to fully realize the shocking and devastating effects of methamphetamines. There are some graphic photos and a few disturbing video clips but they are necessary elements in complimenting and reinforcing the main message of this program. National Geographic has made a decent documentary here, and whether viewers want to watch this for educational purposes or just out of curiosity perhaps.

Hmm, my doctor gives me methampethamine for ADHD and it does wonders for me..

    sounds like more propagandist bullsh*t.

    Sad

  • jake

…your doctor is prescribing Ritalin (methylphendate)for your ADDH not crystal meth…propaganda…NO….ignorance…yes

    • Johnny

How the hell do you know what his doctor prescribes him? Are you a psychic?

You do realize that Ritalin is only one of many drugs available for treatment of CNS disorders such as ADHD and the majority of them are amphetamines, right?

For example Desoxyn is methamphetamine hydrochloride, Dexedrine and DextroStat are dextroamphetamine sulfate’s and the one I know well is an amphetamine-dextroamphetamine combination called Adderall.

The only difference between those pharmaceutical drugs and crystal-meth is that most of the pharma’s come in much more convenient pill form and often pack a bigger punch than it’s homemade counterpart, but otherwise the effects are much the same.

Yet the one’s that the pharmaceutical companies are making billions off of often times specifically marketing them for kids are legal and for trying to help people supposedly, while the illegal kind that they can’t make billions off of is to destroy our society.

It’s sad that 11 out of 11 people seemingly applaud you for your ignorance in calling out someone else for their assumed ignorance on your part.

Drugs are bad, the drug war is worse, and ignorance is by far the worst of all.

Sounds like something a pedophile would say.

        • Johnny

Uh, WTF kind of drugs are you on just out of curiosity?

So, because I have experience with some of these medications and chose to educate myself on them and used that real knowledge of the truth to contradict his ignorantly assumed bullshit I must be a pedophile?

I’d laugh at that if it made sense even in a ‘dumb funny’ way, but it’s just plain dumb. I feel sorry for every person who has ever or will ever have to interact with you, I hope you are more intelligent off the internet.

  • Stephanie

This documentary is extremely well done. The ending was very disturbing…

@somebody – Your obsession with pedophilia is frightening, what kind of sick freak are you?

I hope you aren’t allowed to be near children, even if you are just a child yourself.

As a father this twit really scares me, I highly recommend that if anyone on this site knows who ‘somebody’ really is that they report him for investigation ASAP before some kids get hurt. Thanks.

Dear “Somebody” and “Johnny”, Sometimes the comments are more entertaining than the documentaries. Thanks!

@ Johnny – Jake clearly realises the drug prescribed is an amphetamine; he states that it is most likely Ritalin (as a qualified psychologist I can confirm this is likely to be the case) and he used the chemical name after the word.

‘The only difference between those pharmaceutical drugs and crystal-meth is that most of the pharma’s come in much more convenient pill form and often pack a bigger punch than it’s homemade counterpart, but otherwise the effects are much the same’.

^^^ This little rant of yours speaks of somebody who gets all of their information from wikipedia and is sadly mistaken. And before you try to shoot me down I am good friends with 3 doctors, 1 nurse, 1 pharmacist and 1 person who controls NHS funding here in England; so I know what I’m talking about.

YES some of the basic chemicals are the same. Codeine, for example, is a widely prescribed painkiller but its base chemical is part of the opiate family – that doesn’t mean however that codeine is the same as heroin.

The chemicals you named as being present in pharmaceutical pills will not be the same as the ones in crystal meth; the chemical will be different, normally from a different source, sometimes in a different form.

No matter what the difference drug companies have legal barriers to climb. Street drug dealers do not have to pass the substances they sell through any kind of health or legal authority. They follow no laws on the amount of a chemical present – making your idea of a pharma pill being stronger seriously ignorant.

The other issue with your ideas is that you pay no attention to what other chemicals street drugs may be cut with – it can be anything from paint thinner or stripper to rat poison. Again, not an issue with pharmaceuticals and the reason why people with disorders such as ADHD don’t experience the devastating physical effects that come with drugs such as street amphetamines.

So, although you have learnt a lot about chemical names (bravo for your wiki reading by the way) you seem to ignore some pretty basic facts about the legal vs. illegal drug industry. I conclude that you too are in that case ignorant.
