ZOO

Zoo, a film by The Stranger columnist Charles Mudede and director Robinson Devor, and executive producers Garr Godfrey and Ben Exworthy, is a documentary on the life and death of Kenneth Pinyan (played by Adam T. McLain) a Seattle area man who died of peritonitis due to perforation of the colon after engaging in receptive anal sex with a horse.

The film’s public debut was at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007, where it was one of 16 winners out of 856 candidates, and played at numerous regional festivals in the USA thereafter. Following Sundance, it was also selected as one of the top five American films to be presented at the prestigious Directors Fortnight sidebar at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

The film was made with co-operation of the two men who took Pinyan to the hospital, as well as other friends of his, in the attempt to explore the life and death of the man, as well as those who came to the farm near Enumclaw for similar reasons, beyond the public understanding of the media. It does contain explicit material of sexual activities, but only in the view of video footage shown on a small television screen.

  1. Personally, I loved this documentary. I really relate to mr. hands. I wish I could’ve been him. I love 20 inch horse dicks XD. but I don’t want my asshole ripped YOOOOUCH. but at the end of the day, I went out with horse cock,!

  2. Darwin is proven right yet again. Lets’ hope the trait for this behavior died with him.

  3. He died because his colon was punctured. Unsafe is an understatement.

  4. Fucking sickos. The human race is doomed.

Wow. I can’t wait till people start trying normalize sex with tarantulas or bears. Hmm crocodiles anyone? ?

  5. Cannot see what would be interesting about this.

  6. I’ve seen and heard alot of horse shit in my daze – but this takes the f***ing cake – or should I say pie? Maybe the Poop – er, I mean Pope – should “canonize” this into liturgical ritual – so the priests can find appropriate outlets for their libidinal urges. Wait a minute – that’d be sheep-sin, not horse-sense. Sorry. I withdraw my – uh – statement…

  7.  There seems to be a emphasis on “love” for the horses, however it was clear most of the people involved were coming together for quick indiscriminate sex with horses . There was as much amore involved as when a John visits a prostitute.
To me, what happened with “Mr hands” was a case of “wicked attraction”.

Moral judgement aside, he died because of unsafe sex . Allot of people have.

  8. Is there any more to this story than, a guy was so bored he fucked his horse?  And trying to make out that that’s a normal thing to do?

  9. save yourself the time and just look up the news report ….Terrible! this won some awards? absolutely terrible.

  10. excellent stuff. Do you have a RSS feed? And would it be cool if I added in your feed to a site of mine? I have a site which pulls content out of RSS feeds out of a number of sites and I would like to add yours, many folks really don’t mind since I link back and everything but I like to get approval 1st. Anyway let me know if you could, thanks.

  11. Im sorry but the artsy filming and slow piano does not bring “class” to the fact that some dudes were partying out on a farm and f-ing horses. ewwww

  12. While the thought of people being intimate with animals is disturbing to me, I thought this documentary was very well put together and in good taste. I was hoping it wouldn’t show video and go into unsettling detail about the bestiality and it did not. Worth the watch.

  13. Simply want to say your article is striking. The clarity in your post is simply impressive and i can take for granted you are an expert on this subject.
