Manufacturing Dissent: Uncovering Michael Moore was released in 2007 and it is a documentary film which takes aim at filmmaker Michael Moore, claiming that he uses misleading tactics to push his own agenda. This comes in the form of interviews with people who seem to have personal grievances with Moore.
The film itself was made over the course of two years by Canadians Debbie Melnyk and Rick Caine after they went to see Fahrenheit 9/11, which was Moore’s controversial film that attacked the Bush administration and its policies.
Melnyk and Caine have both stated that they originally set out to make a biographical film about Moore as they had great admiration for his work and achievements, but during the course of making this movie they claim that their research lead them to grow disenchanted with Moore’s tactics.
