The Annecy shootings, also the French Alps shootings or the Chevaline killings, were the shootings that took place on the 5th of September 2012. They saw a family from Britain who were on holiday brutally murdered, a father, mother and grandmother all of whom were shot at point blank range whilst in their car. In addition to this a 7 year old girl was shot and a cyclist was killed but one man managed to narrowly escape.

In this Panorama special we see the former British RAF pilot who discovered the crime takes us back to the murder-mystery scene which sparked a huge police investigation that spanned across 15 countries. Through a number of interviews we also see a witness speak for the first time about a British car he saw just moments before the murders took place.

This film also investigates the murder weapon and asks if the killer was a professional. Perhaps the family was a target of an intelligence agency because the father worked for a high-tech company in Britain, or was the target the cyclist who was there that day. These are all questions which Panorama try to get to the bottom of.
