Released in 1987, just 5 years after the war itself The Falklands War: The Untold Story attempts to unravel the red tape which covered many of the facts behind the conflict. At the time key figures had remained silent, no one had been to Argentina in order to tell their side of the story and for the majority of British people this war was just another glorious chapter in their history books as photos of British troops waving union jacks filled the newspapers.

Shot in Britain, the United States, Argentina and the Falklands this film for the first time revealed the harsh realities of modern warfare. It caused much controversy in Britain because it also told Argentina’s story. Government officials had even attempted to get the film banned, but Yorkshire TV’s telephones were jammed with messages of support from wives and mothers of those who died in the conflict.
