In the first sentence of the description of this film upload, the pronoun referring back to the subject (Ian Curtis) of the second clause should be “who” and not, as written, “whom.”
As to whether it should be “their popularity” or “its popularity” depends upon whether one views a band as a singular or plural entity.” If one omits the proper names “Joy Division” and “Ian Curtis,” and replaces “a” for “the” as the article, it wouldn’t appear inaccurate to write “Great documentary about a revolutionary British punk group and its lead singer, who committed suicide before the peak of its popularity.”
In any case, the replacement of the pronoun should, at least be corrected.
I also do not think it correct to describe Joy Division as a punk rock band, as by their more arty & techno lyrical bent and sound would be more appropriately termed “New Wave” than punk. The Ramones and The Sex Pistols were punk rock bands. Joy Division and Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark (OMD) were New Wave groups.
