Krokodil: Russia’s Deadliest Drug

A homemade drug called Krokodil is gaining popularity in Siberia and its effects on users are horrific. Krokodil is Russian for Crocodile, because of the way addicts’ skin begins to get turn scaly, dry and eventually rot right off their bodies. Even most heroin users are frightened by Krokodil and want nothing to do with this terrifying drug.

  1. I hate how they interject their personal opinions (in a sarcastic tone, at that) when faced with different situations. Aren’t they supposed to be neutral throughout? Had to stop watching. Little girl was too annoying.

  2. I agree, it’s like a doc done by Lilly Allen! Wearing a slutty dress.!
It’s sick the things she was reporting, what a sad world we live.
Again legalise Drugs which we’ve known for years, then people wouldn’t be playing with this shite,!

  3. I cannot believe this, Seriously – The nature of human tendency – or the culture the youngster are following- It will led them to, no where – I really feel that, the big corporate fat guys who takes about CSR and Social reforms should watch this.Fear of getting killed for a small money – God bless them -I hope,I can do something for them one day.

  4. Vice should not have let that annoying bint ruin a great documentary. She can’t even speak Russian.

  5. Personally i wouldnt care if its a cult or not. If it keeps these poor people clean and off that stuff who cares if they have ‘jesus’ in their lives?

  6. al-qaeda and taliban doesn’t support drug trade.
there is enough evedince that when the taliban was in power in afganistan the herione production was on an alltime low

  7. This is sad…… To call a organization “TEEN CHALLENGE” founded on the principles of the Bible a sect “Cult”. A free pace to go and to get away from the world. A place to find some kind of peace. The sad little girl filming this documentary had the gull… to call a group of people trying to find help….a cult. Christian based…
She set down with one of the cult leaders in the doc. The Catholic….priest… lol…… How twisted the would is…. people like her with there warped minds. What where the Catholics doing about it??????????????? preforming rituals????
Now lets look at Teen Challenge “church” a room full of reformed/ reforming drug addicts giving praise to the lord thy God… for salvation!!!!
This in the setting where it seemed to be more people trying to change or have changed than any other place shown in the documentary one or two,,,

Two thumbs down for the cult commit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get your facts
before you let stuff fall out of your ass …your mouth… sorry

    • A decreased use of question marks and exclamation marks and an increased use of good grammar would give you far more credibility.

  8. Absolutely grim. Human degradation at a new low.

  9. Vice are like loui theroux, very quick to highlight a problem but once they get the footage and add dark sinister music they fuck off and dont give a shit about the subject, Vice is a media franchise who makes serious money from advertising…..they are to documentaries what x factor is to pop music…..Money money money…

  10. Vice goes in pretty deep but something about the people who run it bugs me. I always get the feeling that their “investigative journalists” are there primarily just to see the dirt and the danger for kicks. I don’t think they’re interested in helping anybody. At all.

    • Exactly how it should be. “Investigative journalists” are simply supposed to investigate and report what they’ve found, and Vice seems to do that better than anyone else today.

Objectivity or neutrality should be a goal of all journalists. If the people at Vice decide that they want to stop documenting actual news and simply spread their own opinions about everything, I’m sure they could just get jobs in mainstream media.

    • A documentary isn’t made to help or amend the situation, it’s made to purely document the situation. Vice seem to be doing a good job.

    • totally agree… these people do nothing to help plus they criticize those who are trying…

      • I agree also, they totally dont care. But in their defense I have to say that they are somewhat independent. Besides that its very difficult to create a good documentary without being “judging” about the subject. If I look at it that way I think they make well balanced documentaries that do show you what the hell is actually going on (not talking about their “history lessons”). So what if theyre in it for themselves? Its better than most hypocrit shitshows sponsored by big corporations/government.

  11. This doc was good, but the host put me off because she looked like a goth and use the “f” bomb too many times.
If you are squeamish, watch out for the images around the 11th minute!
It was shocking to learn how quickly this drug could debilitate its users, wow.
Living in Siberia would be depressing enough, with out even getting addicted to this stuff.

  12. seriously depressing…
if the alternative to heroin addiction or any drug for that matter is a substance like this,
then I see no problem in legalisation of any substance.
every one knows the dangers of drugs (some more than others), it is drilled into our heads from a very young age. There is no reel threat of addiction rising, but if it stops a drug like krokodil from ever having to exist then seriously… what is the problem???

I will never understand this society we all live in.. hiding away from the reality of human nature..
Any addiction case should be enough for the population to understand that legalising the substance, controlling it and helping the person will drastically decrease the propagation of addiction. Groups of addicts will no longer form because society will be more understanding of the chemical imbalances which some people have. That very understanding will stop these people from grouping together before any crimes are forced to be committed to support an addicts drug use.

Not to mention the fact that many addicts become addicted to the same drugs as their friends, simply because of this outcast tag society slaps on them. We basically encourage the problem by ignoring it.
As we all can see, addiction does not go away if we kill off the people already addicted to the drugs, it still finds a way to propagate.
Using drugs is in our nature as mammals, No need to even separate ourselves from the animal world on this issue, therefore addiction is bound to happen in a minority of people, why avoid the problem instead of facing it head on ?!?!!
legalise does not mean condone, people!!
it simply shows understanding, something which goes a long way in substance abuse.
Demonizing and separating ourselves from addicts only strengthens the addiction.
    So why do people wait?..

    • @meroujan,
I think one of the reasons Canada doesn’t legalize drugs, is that just to legalize ONE substance takes years to impliment in our justice system; the courts wouldn;t be able to keep up with all the new synthetic drugs out there which just keep coming into the public domain.
      That’s just my opinion.
There will always be people looking for a thrill, or a way to stop their mental anguish. I don’t see any solutions in the immediate future for these users.

      • @bringmeredwine:disqus

I totally agree that more drugs constantly appear on the market, but it’s safe to say that this is only because the “main” drugs are illegal.

As having a history with self medication, ( I use that term since I strongly believe the term addict should never be used, it only perpetuates this stigma which society forces upon us) I can tell you that there are no drugs like the illegal ones.
Heroin, Cocaine, cannabis and not to mention the vast amount of psychedelics are a part of our culture whether we like it or not.
We use opiates for pain medication, cocaine has numbing properties which are used for local anaesthetics in dentistry and much more. Cannabis has many medical uses but the most documented and quantifiable is for muscle spasms due to multiple sclerosis.

On the other hand, these new drugs which are constantly being introduced to party kids or head shops are much more dangerous.
Nobody really knows what is in them.

The paramedics find it a lot harder to help a patient on these new drugs because something as simple as administering Valium can cause complications.

Honestly, I think legalisation is more of a moral issue for the masses.
For the government, it is more of a chore than anything else. But this does not take away from the fact that it will have to be done one day…
Understanding makes everything possible, all people need to do is understand and be open.
Once we are more understanding, the human race will have a much better chance at survival.
Understanding breeds harmony and with harmony, segregation of any kind will be a thing of the past!!!

        • Logically I agree with you, but human emotions are anything but logical.
If the government decriminalizes drugs.they are subliminally sending out the message that drugs are no longer bad for you.
Whilst it may have been preferable to never criminalize drugs in the first place, rectifying this now will cause some people to turn to drugs as they will see this as a sign of governments admitting that they were wrong about drugs all along.
As well as this, while arguing for the legalization of drugs may be an attractive hypothetical argument, no Western government is going to legalize drugs such as heroin. No legislation would even get passed the planning stage.

  13. They should let all these retards die out of the human race.
