Documentary about Henry Joseph Darger, Jr. (1892 – 1973), a reclusive American writer and artist who worked as a custodian in Chicago, Illinois. He has become famous for his posthumously-discovered 15,145-page, single-spaced fantasy manuscript called The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, along with several hundred drawings and watercolor paintings illustrating the story. Incredibly inspiring. In our time he may have been considered autistic. His directness towards the weather and his deep inward focus on his own imaginative world. This was a brilliant documentary.
What the hell did I just watch? That poor old guy sure was nuts, but he seems to have been an alright person. Too bad he was so alone.
