A great documentary. However Ding Yu lost my respect when she couldn’t even manage to show a little bit of human sympathy and shake Bao Rontings hand ( 36:56) Just touching his fingers doesn’t count! Other than that it is a great look into China’s execution policies.
The death sentence is literally legalised murder. The boy who killed the grandparents the intent was to rob, not kill. The man who killed the child was a ransom gone wrong. They are both guilty of serious crimes and should be punished but neither of those people set out to kill. The woman who killed her husband is a desperate mother who probably endured terrible abuse. These people who are on death row I think they are people who have made serious bad mistakes (as all human beings do) in life but they do not deserve to die. And who is Ding Yu to judge? With her high flying job that earns her thousands off of other peoples suffering. And her happy family life, I wonder what she would do if her husband, the father of her son, started being violent and abusive. How would she cope? I’m not saying the woman did the right thing but we do not know the extent of the abuse that woman has suffered… This was a great documentary very informative and eye opening Thanks =)
