tl;dr – This is a highly nuanced look at a very large subculture in the first decade of the 21st century. It is only worth watching if you have a deep interest in games and gaming, or are attempting to expand your horizons.
I am a big fan of watching video games. When i was a kid my family did not have TV, so i normally watched my friends play. I was always so bad that i had more fun just watching. I am no longer bad, but the pleasure of watching has not left. It is very hard to compel me to watch a football game, as it seems like a completely pointless conflict wrapped up in 2 hours of capitalist vomit. I can watch Koreans from 2003 play Brood War for hours.
This doc covers a world i knew of, but had no part in. I was a nobody in the OG Halo world, back in the xboxconnect days, so it was exciting watching these guys play and develop. It is truly interesting due to Nintendos unexplainable reticence at supporting these people. The prize money is not that big and the community seems pretty consistently small. Nonetheless, they love what they do.
The series is long, especially if you are uninterested. Unfortunately for you, it is best appreciated altogether. I watched it end on end [because dork] and i found it exciting as hell. It says a lot about the burgeoning tech scene that we all take for granted in the year of your lord 2014. Facebook is mentioned maybe once.
I highly recommend you watch it.

Tehee. The gay guy is called WIFE.
He’s not gay. As he explains in, I think, the second video he is part of a duo called the Newlyweds (Husband/Wife) and he is Wife as he mains Princess Peach while his partner main Marth. He then confirms being straight in one of the later videos by mentioning that he was attending one of the tournaments with his then girlfriend.
