25 years ago the country of Sudan was on fire and due to the lack of media coverage almost no one knew what was happening, so the fire of genocide spread and burned for more than 15 years, claiming the lives of over 2 million people. Out of the ashes of war, came hope and after watching their parents die trying to protect them, many displaced children walked for years through dangers we cant imagine. To this day no one knows exactly how many of them were killed along the way but more than 20,000 escaped and the story of the lost boys of Sudan shocked the world, raising an important question, what do you do with tens of thousands of war orphans who have no home? With few options available thousands were brought to the United States for a fresh start. Many of which went to school and found jobs and when the war ended some returned to help rebuild their country. This is their story.

Well…I don’t want to rain on your parade but they are so many conflicts going on all around the world that one hardly knows were to start, I am a member of Amnesty International since 1999 and to tell you the truth I doubt that my contributions have made a difference but still one as to go on, even in the face of so much destruction, I think it is euthopic to think that we will be able to solve all of sorrow in our world knowing human nature it’s a very long shot.
I’m deeply saddened by the current condition of Sudan but at the same time, I am hopeful of a brighter future.
