As the world focused on the fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan this Channel 4 special set out to reveal how the conflict has lead to a terrifying rise in the number of children who are now addicted to opium and heroin.

The film exposes many reasons for this spike in addiction, one being the fact that opium and heroin have become so readily available that it is now cheaper to treat pain with these drugs than it is to buy proper medication.

This is the hidden side of Afghanistan, where the most vulnerable are now paying the heaviest price for the war. Here children have become haunted by the horror’s they have witnessed over the last decade and many are now simply hoping to regain their lost childhoods.
