Design and business can no longer be thought of as distinct activities with individual goals. Design the New Business is a film dedicated to investigating how designers and businesspeople are working together in new ways to solve the wicked problems facing business today.
The short documentary examines how they are joining forces by bringing together an international collection of design service providers, education experts and businesses that have incorporated design as a part of their core approach. Design the New Business features inspiring case studies and insightful discussions, helping to illustrate the state of the relationship and how it needs to continue evolving to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
In essence, Design the Business is a film that centers on outsourcing. You can apply the principles you learn here to other business aspects as well. If you check out the benefits of outsourcing your customer support, for example, it’s a great way to improve your employees’ and customers’ satisfaction. You clients are happier because you answer their queries quickly and efficiently. You employees are happier because they don’t have to answer boring questions and can focus on their main job. And outsourcing saves you money. What else could you want?
I’d like to add that outsourcing can be an excellent solution for companies looking to optimize their business processes. By working with external teams, businesses can not only reduce costs but also gain access to specialized expertise in various areas. For instance, many companies have already leveraged the benefits of outsourcing to enhance the efficiency of their systems.
The documentary could use a LOT more specific real world examples. The design-think jargon was greatly over-used and the people interviewed only made vague academic references to how design and business could converge. Sort of like running in circles and saying nothing concrete or truly educational.
Interesting video
Interesting documentary on the convergence of business and design. Such a pity that the sound is so garbled. Must’ve been recorded on a cheap camera with built-in mic.
