Gaddafi – Our Best Villain

This insightful essay-style documentary by Frenchman Antoine Vitkine puts current events into perspective by examining the motivations behind the actions of Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, a man whose peculiar appearance belies savvy negotiation skills.

Born in a tent in the Libyan desert, this Arab nationalist gained notoriety at 27 after toppling King Idris I. He went on to survive revolts, military strikes and embargoes while showing a knack for playing to Western interests, namely geopolitical security and oil reserves. It’s no surprise many of the interviews about hidden dealings are tainted by realpolitik. These personal accounts from key players are a fascinating foray into the diplomatic world of riddles, theatrics and hidden agendas.

  1. A very interesting doc, once again showing how here in the West one minute we sell people arms & the next minute we are fighting them with the same weapons that we have sold them. Some things never change do they ?

  3.  Oh! the realpolitik

  4. I don’t know if I can watch this film judging by ‘the face’. Unreal. Is this face human? It’s an extraordinary mask.

    • Right @ ya, DaftAida!!
This is more Western propaganda using it’s media blitzkrieg once again to justify the inequalities and GREED of western domination and control of the world’s natural resources/oil. Gaddafi is the only mouthpiece we get from the other side of the coin in this “documentary”…..(the Arab POV)…..and where is Israel’s role in all of this? Nowhere. Get real. This is one sided dreck. Although, many things are factual, MORE things are left out intentionally, and or, pure fabricated bullshit. Con Do Sleaza Rice!!?? HA!! LAUGHABLE!

      •  I made that last comment before the last 30 min’s. Now, I would like to state that the ending was very telling……..they F*cked him in the end, used him like a tool all along while sucking out the oil, but, in the same fashion that he had tried, only better, and why not? He was like them. He just wanted respect. But they wouldn’t give it to a brown person, he wasn’t of blue blood. In the end, the West was more savvy and had way more experience with the worldly political game of chess, and tons more patience.
