Famous for writing 1984 and inventing the concept of Big Brother, George Orwell witnessed and reported on some of the defining moments of the 20th century but there are no moving picture of Orwell, nor are their any recordings of his voice. He did however leave a vast written legacy containing insights on everything from diet to revolution. These are the records used by the BBC to create this fantastic piece, A Life In Pictures.
In this docudrama the footage you see of Orwell has been created, but the words in which are spoken are his own. This film does an excellent job at telling the life story of the British author through the actor Chris Langham who plays the part of Orwell himself and gives you a real sense for what he must have been like as an individual.
