They used to call it the art of warfare. War as a game of strategy. Certain moves can be considered brilliant, like the French campaign, his greatest triumph. Some moves required brute force, such as the conquest of Crimea and Sevastopol, the world’s strongest fortress.
“My most able general”, said Hitler, “is the most dangerous opponent” said the allies. A Prussian field marshal obsessed with duty, discernment, and obedience.
Why wage war for a criminal? Why obedience to the very end? There is virtually no other commander-in-chief who fought as many battles with Hitler and contributed as much to solutions at the front as Manstein did.
Only robotic ignoramus’ who’s mental capacity can only grasp conflict as ‘good vs evil’ will lump all Germans who lived during WW2 as ‘Nazi’s’.
Mostly Americans stuffing their faces with junk food, junk TV and believe their leader’s still, when they rabble rouse their citizens forward into another ‘let’s export freedom and democracy’; but ignore the countless blunders, innocent civilians who are murdered and obliterated in the process.
The problem with the US’ foreign policy is the layers of deception built into their military expeditions.
So many lies and cover up’s, corporate greed, deliberate terrorizing of their own populace to largely win political capital and line the pockets of the few.
Weapons of mass delusion? You reap what you sow: you allowed you’re hairbrained Govt to bankrupt you’re country financially following and fighting bogeymen. close to 20 trillion dollars in debt thanks largely to the nefarious de-regulation of wall st, the military industrial complex, and now the prison industrial complex.
Why do you deceive yourselves Americans? What have you left to sell? more lies?
I thoroughly enjoy documentaries based around the German’s view of the war, it’s various atrocities and victories. Makes a nice (and necessary) change from American ‘History Channel’ style docs about how the US stomped out fascism in Europe with their military muscle and prowess.
It’s difficult to assess culpability however. Thousands of German soldiers, officers and Generals were guilty of crimes against humanity, but this is what happens when anonymity of action is present, and simple people are encouraged to commit atrocities in the name of their country, leader or God.

But the truth is the US did spank the fascist German Nazi bastards with military muscle dumbass.
