In this episode of The Sky at Night we learn of something which is quite unsettling and that is the fact that most of the universe is missing.

In our world of material objects it is easy for us to comprehend what normal matter is, it is what makes up everything around us from the computer / mobile phone you are using to view this to the planets, stars and interstellar dust. Given this however, scientists are estimating that 95% of everything in the universe is actually invisible.

Enter Dark Matter, a type of matter whose very existence is still largely hypothetical. Scientists think there is an unknown form of energy pervading the universe that we know so little about, all it has so far is a name – dark energy.

This film explores this invisible world taking us on an incredible journey through the depths of space in search of this mysterious matter.
