Kill Me If You Can

It is July 2003 and a 14-year-old boy, John, is the victim of a near-fatal stabbing in Altrincham near Manchester. His 16-year-old friend Mark is the chief suspect. But why would a teenager who has never been in any trouble try to kill his best friend?

An incredible story emerges of how Mark has been recruited over the web to be a secret service agent by a spy mistress called Janet Dobinson. She promises him sex and riches if he passes an initiation test: to kill his friend John. The schoolboy is propelled into a world of espionage; his bland suburban surroundings become a landscape of mystery and intrigue.

But in court, facing charges of attempted murder, Mark finally learns the truth – Janet and a host of other people he met on the internet are all fictitious characters invented by someone bent on manipulating his every move. But who would know enough to trick him into attempting murder?

  1. What a unique and unbelievable story. To be fair, it because a bit predictable (in terms of who the actual perp is) about half-way through, but still. I was actually surprised this doc had such a good rating given the horribly slow-paced and annoying beginning of the program (do we really need 2 “experts” explaining to us how Internet chatting works…?) so I was going to give it a 5, but luckily didn’t turn off/rate it based on the beginning. A solid 8 from me in the end,

  2. John is a mastermind for killing someone in the making…. 🙁

  3. ultimate troll vs ultimate noob? although getting stabbed is kinda a fail…

  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnHnHIdhDqU  is a link to someone who has all the parts of it

  5. Man the kid named Mark in this doc is fucking retarded!

    • folie a deux…which in french means madness by two…
in other words, a delusion shared by two emotionally associated persons. ( oxford concise dictionary 6th edition)

  9. I won’t give it away but what a crazy ending! So enjoyable to watch, if not a bit scary. Gotta be careful with the internet kids..

But why would John want this??

  12. Two kids caught in ‘a deadly game’. What a relief  that it happened in England and nòt in the USA — both boys futures would have been totally ruined.

  17. Mark is a dummy

  18. wait the boy that did the stabbing got 2 years and the one that orchestrated everything got nothing? I really hope I misheard that. I mean yeah, you can argue the one boy was retarded to believe everything so readily but the one who created all those characters… that looks like the beginning of a sociopath, he’s a master manipulator and needs to be watched.

  22. that’s so fucked up!!

  23. I’d like to hear more of the story from John’s point of view.  Why would someone plot their own murder like that?

    • AND AGAIN DON’T READ THE COMMENTS BEFORE WATCHING!

    • I think John wanted Mark sexually, but had problems with himself for
having homosexual feelings. In the end, he plotted his own death as a test of Mark’s attachment to him. He wanted mark to disregard his order to prove their ‘friendship’, and his going through with it signified that the woman John had created was more important to Mark than John was. I believe that this revelation, in combination with John’s self-loathing – was what prompted John to encourage his own murder.
In short he needs counseling – because his bevy of identities are all walls that he’s created in order to test people. He has some serious trust issues – probably, as Craignatt stated, because of the issues with his stepfather.

    • they kind of explain at the start.

i think it might have to do with him being fooled as a child about his step fathers identity, then in turn does the same to others. also he’s a loner with no real friends, his only friend is Mark, but the friendships built on lies anyway. So yeah, hes f***ed in the head basically.

moral of the story is don’t lie to your kids coz they might do the same..
