As of recent times the city of Milwaukee in the United States is said to be one of the most racially divided and deprived. Gun crime seems to be at an all time high with homicide rates through the roof, it is the perfect example of America’s turbulent relationship with guns where the divide between African-American communities and the police has never been clearer.
In this film we see filmmaker Louis Theroux ride along with the Milwaukee Police Department as they patrol District 5, a location home to some of America’s deadliest streets, here the homicide rate is over 12 times that of the national average. Within the first few minutes of this documentary we see this first hand as the homicide division is called to the scene of one of these many killings.
Louis also puts in time to speak with many members of the community to discover the reasons which lie behind these scary statistics of unemployment, crime and death in the area.
