The film Inception, staring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and many more was initially released back in 2010 and has since been received well by many viewers and critics, but not many people know about the sheer amount of planning and preparation that went into creating this film. Back in 2002, Christopher Nolan, the director had wrote an 80-page film treatment about “dream stealers”, he presented this idea to Warner Brothers but feeling that he needed a little bit more experience in directing before taking on the challenge he retired the idea instead to work on Batman Begins. It wasn’t for a few more years that Nolan’s film was finally given the green light and production began. This documentary gives us a behind the scenes look into how the project was conceived and delivered to the big screen.

I’ve always loved Inception, but watching the behind-the-scenes documentary made me appreciate it on a whole new level. Some of our best ideas just need time to mature, like how I once kept a short story draft on my laptop for five years before finishing it. If you’re into deep filmmaking details, this doc is worth it. And funny enough, while streaming, I had to look up the best Apple TV Plus phone number when my app glitched. Totally worth the hassle.
