Margaret Thatcher: The Iron Lady

The Iron Lady is a 2012 biographical documentary which delves into the life of Margaret Thatcher, looking at her early life as a Grocers daughter raised in Grantham of Lincolnshire and how she fought her way through the cut throat world of politics, whilst encountering the sexist prejudices of the Conservative Party and battling the doubt of the British electorate.

  1. Margaret Thatcher’s story is polarizing no matter where you stand politically, you can’t deny her sheer force of will, even if you disagreed with everything she did. Watching her navigate the old boys’ club of British politics while being dismissed as “just a grocer’s daughter” is fascinating and infuriating in equal measure. I actually stumbled across this doc while browsing for something else entirely, right after I’d been on hold forever trying to reach the disney plus phone number about a subscription issue. The contrast made me laugh, one woman toppling governments, me just trying to fix a billing error.
