The Mysteries of Ketamine

The drug ketamine is often associated with club culture but it’s primary use is for starting and maintaining anaesthesia as it induces a trance-like state while providing pain relied, sedation and memory loss. The reason some doctors view it as a preferred anaesthetic is because heart function, breathing, and airway reflexes generally remain functional during its effects.

Although for as long as it has been in use, ketamine has captured the imagination of artists and psychologists alike as its dissociative affects can lead to profound otherworldly experiences. In this film we see VICE reporter Hamilton Morris embark on a mission to uncover these mysteries.
