The NFL is undeniably one of Americas favorite sports / pastimes, but as of late it appears the league itself has become under assault from former players claiming that participating in this sport lead to them developing long-term brain injuries and that these were being covered up. In this two hour FRONTLINE documentary they ask the question, how much did the NFL know and when did it know? In a bid to get to uncover any attempts of covering injuries up.

I’m not a football fan, but replace “football” with “hockey” and move it all north of the border and I can relate to this…
Just like football in the US, hockey is a core part of canadian culture. Some rinks are protected heritage buildings and the Montreal Canadiens/Toronto Maple Leafs rivalry is such a good metaphor of the Quebec/rest of Canada difference we actually made an animated short film about it! Just like football fans, we want contact, we want high-speed body checks, we want fights, we want action! It’s all so easy demanding life-changing injuries from strangers, all that while comfortably in front of the TV and choking cheetos.
But what if it was my son, my husband or my father out there?
Before she died, my mom was an even bigger fan of the Candiens than I was. She had seen many, many hockey injuries on TV but when she went to see my teenaged nephew play at a small rink, He was checked and lay on the ice for a few minutes. He was on his skates soon enough but my mom cried and never set foot into an arena again.
She went on watching hockey amd so do I…but no matter your sport of choice, keep in mind that those men on tv are human beings before calling them “weak” (and worse) for asking more protection.

Don’t feel sorry or any sympathy for these meatheads. They knew exactly what this sport is all about since the first time they played. To smash and hit as hard as possible. Make the other guy suffer. They even enjoyed crushing and crashing the opponents into pain and injury.
Then on top of it, they made millions! So what if they didn’t know how to hold on to it, get good/proper health insurance and a nest egg for retirement. Ohhhhh noooooo lil meatheads, no sympathy for your ignorant, jock arse.
