The Courtlands Hotel in Hove, United Kingdom is used by its owner Nicholas van Hoogstraten to run a business empire he claims is worth around £800 million, it spans three continents encompassing property, mines, farms, art, shares and money lending.
Nick is one of Britain’s richest and most infamous men and in July 2002 he was arrested for manslaughter following the murder of Mohammed Raja. Nick was sentenced to 10 years in prison but a year and a half later he was back in court having won the right to a retrial. In this retrial he managed to have the case thrown out completely and became a free man.
In this film we follow Nick as he runs he business from day to day and also attempts to reclaim all that was seized from him when he was originally arrested.
