One Man, Six Wives, and Twenty-Nine Children

There are nearly 50,000 polygamists living illegally in the southwestern state of Utah, and in this film we see how one such family lives from day to day, as the producers were given permission to film Tom Green and his family which includes six wives and twenty nine children.

Originally released in 1999, Tom was 51 years old at the time, through a number of interviews with himself and family members we witness how life is for a polygamist. At the time Tom has six wives but throughout the course of this documentary we watch him consider taking a seventh, a choice which complicated by the fact his son has an affection for the same women.

After a high-profile trial in 2001, Green was convicted by the state of Utah of four counts of bigamy and one count of failure to pay child support. In 2002 Green was also convicted of child rape for having slept with a 13 year old Linda Kunz. Green was released from prison on parole in 2007 and Kunz is now his legal wife.
