Derek Boogaard was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger who played for the Minnesota Wild and the New York Rangers of theN.H.L, he fought his way to centre ice as an enforcer and quickly became one of the N.H.L.’s most feared fighters. This role of enforcer exposed Boogaard to repeated head trauma, chronic pain and a deadly drug addiction.
At the young age of 28 he died from an accidental drug and alcohol overdose while recovering from a concussion. This film examines the life and death of this professional hockey player in order to discover what went so terribly long.
We quickly realise that in general the fighters are getting bigger and stronger, as a result the forces to the brain are getting worse, but the brain remains the same.
