In 1985 Los Angeles would be terrorized by a series of brutal sexual assaults and murders. Man, women, the elderly, and children were all in the sadistic killer’s sights. This indiscriminate targeting has never been seen before when dealing with a past serial killer. The victim’s last hours alive were at the hands of someone who was laughing as he tortured, sexually assaulted, and killed them. He was a serial killer that broke all the rules, his method of murder seemed to be ever-evolving as he took advantage of guns, knives, tire irons, etc.
The attack was christened “The Night Stalker” by local media outlets and would go down in history as one of the most heinous killers. But who was The Night Stalker and was he born to kill?
In this episode of Born To Kill? a British true crime television series we are introduced to Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramírez, known as Richard Ramirez. He became known as The Night Stalker because of his highly publicized home invasion crime spree that terrorized the residents of the greater Los Angeles area, and later the residents of the San Francisco area, from June 1984 until August 1985. Ramirez, who was an avowed Satanist, never expressed any remorse for his crimes. The judge who upheld his thirteen death sentences remarked that Ramirez’s deeds exhibited “cruelty, callousness, and viciousness beyond any human understanding”.
