Born July 2, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Robin Williams was undoubtedly one of TV and film’s most beloved stars of all time. In the early days his improvisational style of stand up comedy landed him his own television show, Mork and Mindy which gave him a centre stage in which he could develop more as an actor. He later played many memorable roles, both comedic and dramatic and after three previous nominations he went on to win an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his role in Good Will Hunting. Sadly on August 11, 2014, Williams was found dead in his home at the age of 63, he left a wonderful mark on the world and will be missed by many.

Robin Williams is one of those actors who feels woven into childhood and adulthood at the same time. Hearing how much pain he was hiding still hurts, it’s a reminder that funny people aren’t always okay just because they make others laugh. Every time a movie of his pops up while scrolling or skimming Paramount Plus reviews, I end up stopping to watch just a scene and stay for the whole thing. His work still feels like a hug.
