The Rape of Nanking – Nanjing Massacre

The Nanking Massacre, commonly known as the Rape of Nanking, was an infamous genocidal war crime committed by the Japanese military in Nanjing, then capital of the Republic of China, after it fell to the Imperial Japanese Army on December 13, 1937.

The duration of the massacre is not clearly defined, although the violence lasted well into the next six weeks, until early February 1938.

During the occupation of Nanjing, the Japanese army committed numerous atrocities, such as rape, looting, arson and the execution of prisoners of war and civilians.

Although the executions began under the pretext of eliminating Chinese soldiers disguised as civilians, it is claimed that a large number of innocent men were intentionally identified as enemy combatants and executed—or simply killed outright—as the massacre gathered momentum.

A large number of women and children were also killed, as rape and murder became more widespread.

  1. I’m neither japanese or american although I know Japan and I think the nuclear bomb was horrible and yes I know the japanese attacked first, but I’m always surprised with the reaction americans have to 9 11 not saying wich was worst but they did devastate Japan, do in Okinawa until nowadays, finished Vietnam in a way they don’t get up, Aphaganistan and when you talk about it to an american they are blindly thinking everyone who dared to step on their shoes deserved all they got.

  2. Yes, this film has repetitive content. But it is well done. All men everywhere are capable of what Japanese soldiers were guilty of. That is why this film should be absorbed, as horrific as the facts reported are, and as unsightly as the images shown are. Atrocities like this are possible at any time and at any place. Just look how things got out of hand during hurricane Katrina in the USA and the crimes that were committed there. The sin in man needs only the circumstances in order to its rising up, nothing more.

    • Ur simpering nonsense is the true definition of human weakness. KYS.

    • Oh shut up of course atrocities are possible like this everywhere and anytime so why idiots like you are pointing your fingers only at white people??? Lol……cut your fucking crap!!! I wonder why then you had to bring up the united states and say the crimes committee there lol……Just acknowledge that japan was just awful and every race given the power has the potential to be awful!!! All right????
Sin in man???? Fuck you!!!! Katrina was a horrible natural disaster!!!
I do not need your sin in man and man is sinful by nature evil christian man hating crap, all right???? That is why i said fuck you!!!

  3. Though Japanese atrocities associated with the Rape of Nanking are undeniable, this documentary is so lop-sided and filled with factual errors its purpose serves Japan’s revisionist deniers much greater than any enlightening it may provide on just one aspect of Japan’s brutal assault on China in the first half of the 20th century.

  4. WTF?!?! RAF Spitfire’s at 21.28!

  5. Extremely over repetitive. I could not finish the last 20 minutes of this as i could not stand to hear the narrator say the exact same things over and over and over again.

  6. 45:25
They expect me to believe gasoline catches fire when you shoot a bullet at it?
Even with a metal or stone surface, when a spark can be created, shooting gasoline on fire is extremly unlikly. Getting gasoline to ignite by shooting someone in the body is just simply impossible.
This lie, i spotted… How many lies didnt I spot?

  7. This feels like propaganda…
The clips are editted to look like things explode.

  8. This was hard to watch because the footage and photos were from 1937, very grainy and dark. And the narator droned on and on in a monotone. The content was very repetative and so unerving. Very unpleasant and upsetting subject matter. I’m so glad I wasn’t there.

  9. Don’t believe everything you see.

  10. Don’t believe everything you see.

  11. Don’t believe everything you see.

  12. In a parallel universe, this film is called “Rape of America” and people has a lot more sympathetic reaction. The film will be given 10 stars and the views will be a lot more higher.

I don’t believe every documentary is 100% correct. When it comes to historic events, we will need a much more objective attitude because our minds will be clouded by the prejudice that has been injected by the media for decades.

    • You should have taken that objective critical attitude and criticized the leftist media years ago lol……what does rape committed by japan have got to anything with media?? Lol….

  13. Dis not tru. lies, lies, all lies i tell yu. Japknees good kind peeple. luv all man. No kill chinky women an cildren. Dam lies i tell yu. Dis man he bad man. tell yu lies. No belive him. Chin woo no lie to yu.

    • that’s not true, they kill dolphins and whales, they don’t support children adoption and the americans were raping okinawan kids and until recently the japanese didnt give a damn

  14. Wow, had to stop watching because of the overt Chinese propaganda. To say that the Chinese didn’t believe in waring with their neighbors, please. Ask the Koreans or Vietnamese about the Chinese and their peaceful neighboring. To picture the Japanese as blood thirsty savages is irresponsible. This is a shame because the horrors of the Japanese actions in Nanjing is a story that needs to be told, just want one done with honor.

    • no, the japanese did horrible things, the problem is the ones who did it are gone and the koreans and chinese don’t forgive

  15. u Fool were u at sleep while watching?… stupid uneducated fool

  16. How many times must he repeat himself. The entire documentary consists of “Japanese soldiers killed, tortured, and raped men, women, young, and old.” Over and over again. If this documentary didn’t repeat itself, then this would be 15-20 minutes long.
